Managed to put the car in Toyota for scan. Advisor said it can be steering angle sensor. . Will have the diagnosis today.

Also noted immediately after switch off, still some shutters were operating

I'm still suspicious of this phrase:

Were you having any troubles like this before this day? Were you present when these troubles started to happen?
Otherwise you are kind of just taking them at their word that all this started BEFORE the car wash.

And are we talking about one of those mechanical ride through car washes?

If so I'd be suspicious. If the Prius isn't taken through the Car Wash correctly a lot of damage could result. Damage that a less than honest dealership might want to hide by insisting this all happened before the car wash.

Also what exactly is the main problem? Not starting OR The Traction Control light being on constantly?

There's one in our neighbourhood, see the car just goes in and stops, the machines move around it. Still, never use them, for myriad reasons.

Hey guys... Managed to sweet talk for appointment at Toyota Lanka. Had to leave the car there for entire day

Good news is that they reset the traction indicator and now everything seems fine. They regret could not find why brake fuse blown.

Hill assist brake was not working at Toyota. But as I tried at home now it's also working.

Toyota Lanka said will have to do a full scan if same fuse blows again. I suppose they wanted to do that and bill me. Since they didn't have much time for me, they couldn't

    Anyway I'm a happy man

Thank you very much all of you, it really felt i would not be lost and there are people to help me out.

    Cheers.

    Hi all,
Everything seems fine now apart from the mileage drop from abt 53 to 42.

And I feel like I'm moving with brake.
I also feel RPM indicator passes mid point sooner than earlier and starts the engine.

And in traffic stops engine kicks in very soon than earlier

    Now what's wrong... Pls help

I wonder if your brakes are dragging. Very easy check: right after extended drive, feel the wheels, all four corners. If any are a lot hotter than the others it could be they're dragging.

The rear brakes in particular, due to their integrated parking brake mechanism, are prone to drag. During assembly the caliper piston needs to be at certain orientation with inner side pad pin, or there will be uneven pressure and constant drag. A more in-depth check of rear brakes is to raise rear and try turning wheels with parking brake off.

Just noticed homing after 20km drive from office. Front disks were hotter even more than 130 km drive last month. Rear disks seems alright.

Also I noticed when battery has 4 bars. Engine starts while driving with RPM indicator was at abt 25% - 30%. Isn't this abnormal.

A little bit of difference in wheel temps is ok, especially front vs rear. But if one or more wheels is markedly hot, and much hotter than others, that's a bad sign. Maybe it's not brakes, but good to monitor, easy thing to do too.

    Thanks mendal...
I'm pretty much sure today after 20km drive it was way hotter than 130km drive abt month ago. Anyway I'll keep an eye on that

Bad, how bad can that be..

How hot are they? Just warm, or hot enough it makes you want to pull your hand away? The fronts will typically slightly warmer than rears, just due to heated up engine mass. Also, bare alloy rims or are there wheel covers.

Is that traction light still on?

That's not good. Both sides at front?

You really have a good symptom, to relay to the mechanics: something is dragging, for one reason or another the pads are not releasing grip on the rotor properly: the brakes should be inspected.

    Yes both sides.
I think the slight steering misalignment even after recent wheel alignment. Also start me to think maybe earlier some damage to wheel rods.
Toyota Lanka also suggested some angle sensor failure. Due to some uneven steering near center. But that customer advisor was not serious.
    Can all this related

When I hear hot wheels, hot to the point you have to pull your hand away, dragging brakes seems the very likely cause.

If we go for an extended drive, the wheels at most are slightly warm, and in our case this is with the bare, 17" alloy rims.

    You're right it's 17" alloys.
Yet I suppose you meant to say hot brake disks. Not really the wheel.. Don't you, Mendel
