Considering the cost of the battery - about £800 here, and the excellent warranty in the UK - upto 10 years unlimited mileage (HHC terms), then it is an unlikely event and nothing to worry about.

Diesel particle filters and catalysts can be much more expensive and much easier to nick.

I still think a fuel cell vehicle will have much more value on the scrap market - all that platinum in one place.

I think that locking fasteners are more promising than the tack-weld solution.
The thieves will still smash out your glass and cut your battery cables, and probably beat hell out of your cargo bay with the pry bar trying to get the pack out - BUT(!) you'll at least be able to remove the old pack for the new one after the insurance adjuster writes the claim. :)

The sticker is cheap and might actually stop one out of ten battery thieves.
Good return for the investment (almost nothing/almost nothing)

People who buy battery packs off of Craig's list don't give a rats about serial numbers.

If Toyota puts lock bolts on future variants, then were are we? Prius thieves carry lock bolt removers?

We use lock-bolts in Big Bell.

    It's like perscription bottles.
    I call it Adult-Proof packaging.

    Better than nothing.....marginally.
