Anyone have try the older Toyota Magnetic Transmission drain plug to see if it will fit the Prius?

They are like 5 bucks each from Toyota

But I am not too sure if it will fit. The bolt size looks correct at M18x1.5.

Anyone wants to order it and compare ?

I'm tempted. The dang washer alone costs me $3.99 (CAN) at the dealership.

The magnet portion is completely recessed though, not much surface area. Maybe to avoid hitting something, in it's kosher application?

Tranny drain plug looks the same, but I m wondering if anyone try it yet or compare it. These are off the 4runner tranny and lexus but it is the same bolt pattern as told me it is M18x1.5 for the Prius one. But I just want to check cause ran out so I need to get two more for my parents. I am just wondering

This is what a Honda automatic transmission drain bolt looks like. Lot's of surface area on the magnet. The bolt head has a 3/8" square recess, you just hook it up to a 3/8" socket wrench.

    Hmm, I wonder...:

(and IF the threads were compatible, hopefully that magnetic extension wouldn't run into something.)

Never mind: just remember I saved the old drain bolt washer, from recent CVT fluid change on a Civic Hybrid, I.D. of the washer is just over 12 mm. :(

Unfortunately, with shipping, my order would come to $31.45 US. There's likely duty on top of that, plus the inevitable 5/4 exchange rate to CAN $, and our 12% sales tax. So doesn't make much sense, but I'll note the description and ask at our local dealership parts department.

Just a thought: if you want to just check fit, prior to doing a fluid change, you can remove just the fill bolt and try it there.
