Is that with the same driver and same route, or different driver and route? It makes a difference.

I have Persona and manage to get over 60 mpg easily. I've gotten 72 before on freeway driving 70-75 but depends on terrain.

I agree you could have gotten the Honda if that's what you wanted with price you paid for Prius Persona. I just got a Prius Persona a month ago and paid 22,000 for new blizzard pearl prius persona. Should have educate yourself across the board to know what you want. Maybe you can return it with some sort of BS? My mom returned a car once after she bought it a day later claiming its not the color she wanted because she bought it at night.

I hate to quote Consumer Reports MPG tests, but actually it could be good test data:

    CR Highway Rating
    Prius Hybrid 55 MPG
    Accord Hybrid 4cyl 47MPG

What I've done above is that I've thrown away CR's questionable City MPG (32 for both cars).
Now I've got the good part of the CR MPG test (hopefully).

As far as comparing MPG, it is hard to be accurate. I hope we are not talking about display readings over actual fuel readings. Not to mention someone could have tires out of size etc. New tires easily show 3 MPG less just due to tire diameter etc.

The OP's entitled to their opinion and if they don't like the Prius then that's their choice.

One would have to question why they bought a car without fully checking it out so as to be shocked and surprised at the interior quality. I smell foul. Why buy a car without checking the quality suits and then immediately seek out a forum to express your dissatisfaction? Hmmm.

You must be going off the displayed mpg, which can be overly optimistic.

Your the rain in my parade... jk I know it might fluff the numbers slightly, from what I read it could be 1-2 mpg. Typically I average 55-60 which is a huge plus compared the 10-15 I use to get in a yukon xl denali.

I hear everyone, and I understand your concern. I guess I'm shocked that other cars are already in on Prius territory. I had a 2012 Prius and I was pretty happy with it, but alas I've driven the Accord Hybrid and I'm having slight buyers remorse. No biggie.

BTW I'm using Automatic link that connects to the OBD port to gather my MPGs. I'm currently averaging 49.2 mpg.100 miles traveled $5.38 used at 3:52 hours.

Had to Google that as I'd never heard of one - that thing is HUGE no wonder your MPG was low! :D

    Yes.
    Pre-purchase research and driving technique

    The Hycord is a splendid car.....but it's also $5k more espensive, MSRP-MSRP, base-base.
It also gets significantly worse MPG than the G3 according to the government, fuelly, and manufacturer's claims.
If your partner in knocking down better tank averages than you are, then I think you're doing it wrong....besides....you're into your car for only three days.

How do you know what you're getting?

Comparason is the number one killer of Joy in life.
The Prius is good at being a Prius.
They're moderately comfy, they get great mileage (if properly driven), and they're very dependable. For ten years and 250,000 miles there's not many better cars for frugiality and dependability.......however (COMMA!) the Hycord beats the crap out of it for interior comfort and being fun to drive.

    $5000 gets you that.
It's also a little less dependable out to 250,000 miles and significantly more expensive to operate.

    Right car, right mission.

One other thing that Priuses are good at?
They retain their value fairly well.
If this bugs you a lot?
    Sell the Prius.
    Get a Hycord.

    Good Luck!

The Pri should have a definite fuel economy edge over the Accord Hy. Isn't the Accord a series-hybrid? I imagine, with the same driver in each, the Pri should definitely go further on a gallon and have greater potential with hypermiling techniques.

Sorry about the remorse. It may be in your best interest to go for what you like so you can reach a settled state. Otherwise, you could face endless deliberation.

I would never want the Accord, partially because I am so reliant on the cargo versatility of the hatchback. I also don't think I'd feel very at-home in a Gen III Pri, though. The Gen II is completely my thing. I feel like it was custom-made for me.

Not yet. It's been ordered. I was told I need to meet some guy in parking lot because they can't deliver it to my house which I thought was odd.

I'm going record the whole process. Their reasoning was because of their semi fitting on my road, but I think they just want free PR at Wal Mart parking lot...lol.

    Buyer's remorse is a bitch.
Lucky for OP he can trade cars with the partner. Because in a few months the new car smell will wear off both cars.
