I just spoke with the DMV (855) 230-8747 right now and they are currently processing applications that they received by April 23rd. If you call, have your license plate number and make/model and year. I mailed my application (REG 1000 form) on April 7th and fortunately they stated that they received my application and are in the works of processing it! The Air Board stating that less than 5,000 green stickers are available most likely applies to applications submitted in April since there's a month back log. The DMV rep didn't think that there are more green sticker applications in Que than available but she couldn't be certain. Good luck!

Today (May 28) DMV posted that there are 67,052 issued, so almost 3,000 left. At this rate - about 47 a day now that the dealers are sidelined - sticker number 70,000 will be issued around the end of July.

And the bill to raise the limit another 15,000 has passed the Senate and is an an Assembly committee.

    Here we go again.

What 3000 left? We've been duped!

Dianne Whitmire updated on May 22nd, there was only 300 left and her cars now are selling at MSRP with no added markup

As of May 22, there are less than 300 green decals left for CA, and the DMV says they are already backlogged 5 weeks. It's not looking good for you to get your own. The CA HOV stickers are good for use thru January of 2019. 110 Fastrak also free with proper transponder!

On May 11, ARB posted that 68,992 stickers had been issued. It looked like they were about to run out.

Then about a week ago, they revised that figure to 66,255.

What I heard was that the dealer program was terminated on May 1, but they mistakenly issued another batch of dealer stickers after that, and then recalled them.

Whatever the reason, Dianne's information may have been the latest available around the time she posted, but is no longer the case.

I don't think I would be comfortable buying a non stickered pip at the dealer now and applying for the hov sticker. That being the main reason to have the car.......and get disappointed if the numbers given on availability is not correct.

But on the other hand.....looks like another 15000 is around the corner

Last Thursday, ARB posted that DMV had issued 67,052 stickers.

Today, they changed the number to 67,831 as of June 1.

So they issued 779 stickers in four days, including a weekend? When they've been averaging less than 100 a day even while the dealer program was running?

They probably just finished issuing the remaining April's applicants. Someone said they callwd on the 12th and the DMV was just processing mid April applications.

The results just came in and over 4000k PIP, Volt and C-Max were sold in May. Only takes 1/2 of these new owners to apply for HOV stickers to completely wipe out the remaining 2200.

Well you do not have CA sales do you? (which I often post quarterly when they are announced). CA has been running 50-60% of sales. I forget but showed the number for first quarter in a recent post. Does look like we are seeing some green sticker effect in the May sales.

I don't have CA sale numbers and my assumption about there will be no more stickers left was based on 50% of the sales are from CA like you said (assuming all will apply for the stickers). Also, the Ford Fusion has not been counted, which I think would be another several hundreds sales.

OK good calc then!...I bet >60% of PHEV sales are in CA for May. Fusion is doing very well in CA so that's true too. I am betting they will add more stickers, but just a hunch.

Thanks!v I've been offered $4000 off (dealer discount and rebate) and if the state will add another 15k stickers, than I might proceed with the PIP advance purchase. It just that I don't need the sticker and so I'm hoping to get a better discount, especially now the stickers are likely gone for those who are buying in June. I guess we find out by end of the month if Toyota will either increase the rebate from current $1500 or more stickers are being added. I would make the purchase now if only a dealer is willing to give another $500 discount.

If you can wait, you may see a bigger discount. My wife got her advanced for ~$7500 off of MSRP.

That is what I've been thinking too, that bigger discount will come soon now that the stickers are exhausted. Last year people were getting $6000 -$6500 off on average. Your wife got an excellent deal.

We have until October to upgrade, maybe I should wait out a little longer. Yesterday a sale person got back to me with $4500 off, but now I think I'll wait at least until July 4th for better deal. Thanks for reminding me that a massive discount is a possibilty and likely to happen again. I can always go back to this deal if no bigger discount available and I'm not afraid the car gets sold because I'm sure most won't move at this point.

what's interesting is that the assembly seems to be in no rush to pass the bill, however. it's been there for a month, and it's been sitting in committee for two weeks, with no movement whatsoever.

"As of as June 8, 2015, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has issued 68,303 Green Clean Air Vehicle decals."

So in the last week, a rate of 68 a day, which is pretty close to what they've been doing ever since they closed the dealer program.

At this rate, it's looking like the end of June or beginning of July. If I were applying today, I'd express mail it.
