Brought the Prius v in yesterday for the 3 yr service. Service advisor was very nice, did not try to sell anything more than an oil change basically. I was concerned the voice prompts do not mute the radio, meaning it is very hard to understand the voice guidance unless you turn down the radio volume. Service advisor first calls and says the Bluetooth is working normally. I clarify that the Navigation voice prompts are the issue. He says he'll call back in a little bit. Calls back and says it is normal. Is this normal? The bluetooth functionality mutes the radio. I don't remember it being like that in the past....

We've had the Prius v three years today, and I'm afraid it's the last day of the bumper to bumper warranty!

    Thank you for reading!

It's normal. The phone bluetooth function mutes the radio. Navigation prompts do not mute the radio but there is a separate volume control for the navigation. I make my navigation a little louder to make it clearer over the radio. IF you have a bluetooth phone call and navigation needs to tell you something, navigation will come on over the speakers with the phone call.

Thanks so much for the quick response!

I haven't used the vehicle much, it's my mother's, so I didn't really know how it should function.

As you can probably understand I was kind of panicking to get any issues fixed before the warranty ran out.

Many of the expensive parts still have warranty after the first 36k including the powertrain and hybrid system. Plus Toyota is pretty good about free recalls if something is defective or poorly engineered in a lot of cars. The good news is that these cars are very reliable, recalls are usually about minor things, 100k miles is a walk in the park, 200k miles is normal without big repairs and some get 300k or more without issues. Be sure your mother gets the oil and filters changed on schedule (10k for the oil) and has her correct address on file with Toyota.

There is a setting to increase the volume of the Voice Guidance in the Settings menu.
