OP probably bought a Japan domestic market vehicle, and it would be easier for him to learn Japanese than to change the display.

 

Asked a coworker to translate just now:

"Hybrid system check"

And this is the phrase plugged into Google translate:



So it's akin to the ubiquitous Check Hybrid System message on our USDM Prii.

 

start with the 12 volt?

 

How old is your 12v auxiliary battery? Do you have a multimeter or voltage tester? Measure the battery voltage at the battery terminals or underhood jump terminal and ground.

 

1. What warning lights appear on the dashboard and on the multi-function display (if any)?
2. If there are any lights on, take a sharp photo and post.
3. Measure the voltage of the 12V battery and report your findings when the car is IG-OFF, IG-ON (when all warning lights are on), and READY.

 

We got a "Check Hybrid System", with our 3rd gen. Dealership found (and dismissed) codes relating to sensors in brake system, losing communication. I noticed a momentary loss of braking, just before warning came on. No repeat since.

Guessing CHS warning can come on for multiple reasons?
