I need to replace my muffler on my 2006 Prius as it is rusting out in two places (155,000+ miles) and making a low rumbling noise that matches the accelerator. The local Toyota Dealer quoted me $603.86 (labor and tax included)!

So, does anyone know of any online sources that have the best prices for OEM parts and sources that have the best prices for after market parts? The Toyota dealer told me they called around to many local parts suppliers to get me an after market quote but he said none of them carried any.

I appreciate any suggestions for parts wholesalers/distributors for a 2nd generation muffler.

rock auto, or even ebay. the muffler should be an easy diy. only 2 bolts and some rubber hangers. spray the flange bolts with penetrating oil every day until you do the replacement.

Thanks, with a 5% off code, rockauto had the best price I found including expedited shipping. - $100.87. I am in the midst of a move so I will take the muffler to a local mechanic next week to install. I also don't have a ramp to get at the muffler well.

    - LOL - when it first happened, I was looking around to see where the sports car was that was or a car with sports tailpipes driving by me in two lanes of traffic (it's audible but not over loud music). It took me a while to realize it was my Prius.

Local mechanic sounds like a good idea. Air driven impact wrenches help with super rusty bolts.
