I've installed fog lights on a lot of cars to include a regular Prius and I can't figure out why it isn't working. The kit I bought only has one wire to tap in the dash wiring harness. The factory fog light instruction on page 5 says 22 (yellow) and 32 (Green). Anyone know which wire to tap in to? I've tried both and its not working. When I did tap in to yellow, the light on the button did light up but when I push it, it goes off but fog light isn't on. Any help would be very much appreciated!

I guess it would help to know how I installed it on the fuse box. I followed his instructions here,

Why are you tapping a fuse for power? Does the Prius v have the two auxiliary terminals at the back corner of the fuse box, seen here with the red wires connected (this is from a liftback)?

Maybe your foglights aren't working because you blew the fuse in the fuse tap already?

Checked the fuse and they seem to be fine. I have it tapped so that I can turn on the fog lights independent of my lights being on. Can run them like a drl. If I can't get it to work as I have it tapped, will try the empty slot as intended.

The empty slots are like a direct connection to the 12v battery, always hot. You'll need a switch or relay in the circuit.

Doh! Will give it a try.

In terms of tapping the wire in the dash, any ideas?? I guess I could try all three and see what works.

From the instructions on Page 4, for the picture on Page 5 of the junction box, there are two wires to tap, not one. Is there a wire you missed??? One is for the button illumination, the other is most likely for triggering the light to turn on. (Just a guess.)

I checked and re-checked there are four wires. One that goes out through the firewall (power), ground, and when I opened the weather strip, the fourth wire is connected to the tap wire. So there are just three.

My guess is you can split the two, or leave it as is. Button will light up only when turned on as is. Split, and it will illuminate when you turn on parking/exterior lighting, then fogs turn on with the switch. I like split as instructed...

Yeah I'm going to leave it as is since as long as it gets power. Will keep testing...

Edit: found the culprit and it was my crappy wire work. it's the brown wire on the upper right corner for my kit. i had it tapped here but used a tap for a larger gauge wire.

it works regardless i have the wire in the fuse box in the either directions, the blank tap or having it powered using the fuse adapter.

another question that i can't seem to find a clear answer is, how do i make it so that my fog lights are on when my drl is on and as well as when i have the lights on? going to get leds for fog lights so its more for visibility since ain't no fog in so cal.

Found the wire in the wiring harness that allows it to be on whenever. Its a red light. Its third row from the bottom, middle row. Next to a purple wire. Will upload picture when I get to a pc. The wire below it is another red wire and below that is a black wire. I have no clue what this wire does but I'm hoping for the best.

According to Toyota, it's pin #13.

    Kumatae,
If I understand this right correctly you are trying to make your fog light do 2 thing. You need to get a controller module something like exledusa sell call "parking light + turn signal control module". The idea is you have one bulb filament (fog light) but want 2 functions out of it. A cheaper way is to use a relay that can do it also.

The problem is that DRL output is 6v unless you is 12v then you just tap into it. Or a relay that tap to a 12 would work.

The easiest way and best way IHMO would be just to isolate your fog light to a switch that turn on/off whenever you want with the exception that you tap the main power into the ignition wire that way if you forget to turn off the foglight but the car ignition is off thus ur fog light be off as well.

No, I think I might have explained it wrong or you might have misunderstood my initial post. I accomplished exactly what I want, having a fog light to be on whenever I press the switch, by simply connecting the wire I indicated.

    SM-G900V ?
