How much for oil?

60 bucks isn't bad. it's synthetic after all. see if the inspection includes rear brakes and lubrication of slide pins.

 

Sure you dig deep enough you can always find cheaper.
But a 60 dollar investment into the upkeep of a vehicle with only 30,000 miles on it seems pretty economical.

It's the results of the multi-point inspection that could really end up costing you.

 

plus, you have cabin and air filter at 30k, and tyre rotates.

 

Yeah, at $60 that's not bad for an oil change. You gotta remember the oil alone is probably $40. Either the mobile one 0w20 or the Toyota brand 0w20 each run about $10.00/quart. So actual labor cost is probably $20 that's pretty cheap. And yeah since it includes a inspection, that's a pretty good deal.

 

$60.00 is not bad and you only have to change the oil every $10,000 miles. Before you take it in check the air filter and cabin filter yourself and replace them yourself if needed. You don't want Toyota doing that for you.

 

I've always found Mobil1 to be $25-30 for a 5 quart jug at Walmart. Just FYI for any DIYers.

 

The last two times I visited WMT, that 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 0W20 was rolled back to $23-something.

 

yeah, but walmart oil is recycled in china and shipped back over here.

 

At my Toyota dealership parts counter: liters of Toyota 0W-20 are $5.65 (Can), the oil filter element $8.53 and the drain bolt washer 98 cents. I typically get 4 liters, then every so often 5: it takes 4.2 liters to set it on top dimple. For a 4 liter purchase, comes to $32.11.

 

for the o/p, who isn't going to diy, it's more a matter of who would be cheaper. most places are going to charge 10 bucks a quart and 10+ for the filter, and a disposal fee and labor. so 60 isn't bad, although you may find cheaper if you spend a lot of time shopping around.

 

my local mech (mobil station) charged me $11. x 4 qts., $10. for a filter, $3. for disposal and $20. for labor. = $77. i don't shop around because i trust him, he fixes all our cars, and i can drop it off, walk home and walk back when it's ready. that's worth a lot to me.

 

The reminder message is based strictly on miles since the previous reset. A warning comes on at 4500 miles, then the message changes at 5000 miles.

When it comes on, you can reset it yourself and get another 4500 annoyance-free miles before it returns.
