Questions for owners of this device:

    1. How does it handle user switching? With Android Auto the head unit uses whichever Google account the currently plugged in phone uses. How does this switch users when I or my other half share the car? I don't need notifications of her emails or Hangouts messages, and would rather see my Google Maps starred places in the map.

    2. Does it directly support connecting to the OEM Prius reversing camera? Or do I need to step the voltage down from 12V to 6V?

    3. Is there a micro USB cable hanging out so you can connect your phone for USB tethering?

    Thanks!

Thanks for confirming Canbus. He still needs to know "how many connectors" for my JBL 2014 model E7039.

Anyone know the answer without my taking my dash apart?

    Thanks!

You can google it or find the part number but the best way is to take your radio apart and send pictures to the seller otherwise you will be missing harnesses.

My unit works great other than sometimes it does not reconnect to phone hotspot after a brief stop. I heard this is an Android issue, dropping bluetooth, hotspot, but not sure.
Sound is great but not terribly bass poweful; I am thinking speakers next. Anyone did change speakers?

DK Auto has it again discounted for 49 days for those interested:

I have the same issue with bluetooth dropping constantly or being choppy, its the most annoying thing with this unit. I havent experienced hotspot or wifi disconnects though.

    LG-D801 ?

I do not experience drops once on. Returning to the car after a stop, it almost always pick up the Bluetooth again, but the personal hotspot only half the time and I have to manually: connect again!

I think it has to do with the Android software, another member review: Headunit upgrade with JBL | PriusChat

Pulled my unit tonight. It's a 2010 Prius Two stock unit. You can see the front and the back and serial number in the attached photos. Since I only have time at night after the kids are in bed, all the pictures are taken with my phone with flash the pictures aren't the best, but if anybody has the same set up as I do, this will hopefully save you having to pull your unit. This one is definitely a "3 connector unit"

Also, Eric Chen added the quad core and 16GB internal memory for me for only $30 and then a backup camera for $18 (I didn't need the DVR, so I skipped that option). I wanted the extra processing power and space, and that little extra seems to me to be very worth it. Total with shipping came to $433.64. Excited to put this in. Let me know if anybody makes headway on the interference issues and if the wires need extra shielding, etc.

One other question I had that I didn't find an answer to yet. I know with the Toyota DVD system, the parking brake has to be engaged in order for the DVD player to work. Is that true with this unit also?

No drops on mine but distortion from the speakers during high speeds. I upgraded all door speakers and I guess i need capacitors to solve this problem

Thanks for the PMs (not PMS, that's different). This unit doesn't allow user switching and that's a deal breaker. If my girlfriend is driving the car, I can't have my emails and Hangouts messages coming in. She'll find out about all the gifts I'm buying and surprises I'm planning!

Not sure how you guys get around that, unless you never share the car.

For me the beauty of having an Android device is logging into Google on it so all my Maps starred places come up, calendar appointments can be clicked to navigate to, Google Voice texts come in through Hangouts, my Google Play music can stream, etc.

I'm going for the Pioneer AVIC-7100NEX instead. I think for my use case, Android Auto is the better choice. Whatever phone is plugged into it is the Google account you see.

I'm also a bit worried about the reports of poor music quality, scratchy sound, Bluetooth disconnects, etc.

But it's a cool device and looks better than mine will. Good luck to you all.

    Thanks!

If it's running android 4.4.4 you can just set up different accounts and have a pin number to log in to each like you would on a shared tablet device. Then your girlfriend won't be privy to your gift giving nor your surpises ;)

I've checked with several people and it doesn't have the "Users" option.

4.4.4 tablets do usually have it, but I think this is set up more like a phone.

    Thanks!

If it is stock android, then you should be able to softmod it to add multiple users. Should be similar to instructions here:

Thanks. Unfortunately this requires root, which is going to be a little awkward to do on a car unit. I appreciate the help, but it's not for me.

    Thanks!

I found a workaround for bluetooth audio being choppy. Before streaming audio, pull down the notification bar and tap on the SPEED rocket. This will clear the processes since this unit is short on ram.

Now i know what you mean. I tapped the reverse in and i realized to tap the camera to the reverse light.

Tapped the reverse in to vehicle harness reverse trigger. The system triggers the backup camera continously even without pressing the reverse drive. I need your inputs. Thanks in advance.

Run an 18 gauge wire from positive of reverse taillight bulb harness to the reverse-in of the headunit.
