This rendition of "what if" looks like a cross between an ugly Pontiac and the latest Insight.

That look is OK, just so long as it does not come with a 'Darth Vader' grill.

The article seemed to be well informed. I sure hope they are right about a 2x range PiP.

Ewww. What's with the dual character lines just above and below the door handles? Are we having a little Mazda 5 fetish?

What's also with the black panel just behind the rear small window, stuffed by the hatch glass? That is 'style'? A big black plastic panel where there is normally body and paint?

Ooopps, side view mirror mounted on the door. No it's not .... in the Thailand and Torrance photos which I believe are the 4th gen.

What about a break in straight line from hood to windshield? I thought 4th gen is supposed to have an angle there.

I bet green one is going be plug in. Blue one looks so basic. I hate the rear, looks just like Mirai.

Glad to hear the rumors that suggest the revamped plug-in is coming alongside the debut of the hybrid, and double the range (20 miles?) is pretty sweet. The delay of Gen IV may not have been for nought after all, opinions on looks aside.

It seems a bit premature to be unveiling the specs now, but I don't remember how it was unveiled last gen...

everything on this thread is guesswork, even those drawings. there is an official 'what we know about the gen IV' thread, and it's very short, and even less specific.

Right, but those spy photos combined with the latest matching renderings suggest we're edging closer to the truth.

To Prius outsiders, that's all the car has ever been and in some superficial aspects, I agree. Realistically, beyond the public commentary (to calm jittery shareholders?) as to making it more attractive and sporty, why would Toyota change now? ;0

They want to break hybrids out of the 3% market share rut?

Various images are starting to appear of Prius Gen4, all over the place, but can't say I am "blown away".

2016 Toyota Prius front three quarter color palette rendered

Also, rational logic says if misleading (and incorrect) information is circulating about an upcoming product (and may even be detrimental to the product launch), it is in the interest of the company involved to at least dismiss the rumors but I don't see that happening here - we know that Toyota is watching this thread in silence.

The conclusions I can therefore make are:
    * The renderings may not be 100% accurate but may resemble what is to come
    * Toyota don't bother wasting time to dismiss web rumors
    * Toyota consider any rumor to be good propaganda - free adverts building up to the reveal
    * No one except Toyota HQ have a clue what G4 looks like because last minute changes were made

    OR,
*Toyota US are not allowed to say anything of substance.
*Toyota US don't really care about the rumours as they so far haven't given us -any- real information.
*The rumours are allowed to stand as they create excitement.

You have to realize Toyota US -ARE NOT- in control! Toyota Japan is.
I'm betting the "Prius Team" are itching to tell us, but don't dare.

Maybe we will get some hints in a few weeks. Like last time when we got close-in photos of small bits of the car. That was fun, and it kept the rumourists busy, guessing what each one was.

Oh, and it proved there WAS actually a car. ;)

If those are representations of the next Prius I like them. I'm not to critical of the looks of the car though. I'm more interested in the inside.

I hope for the demise of the flying buttress, and gauges centered on the driver.

Actually if the Rav4 Hybrid pushes up to the 40 mpg range we may replace our Gen II with the Rav4 Hybrid. It does have gauges centered on the driver, no flying buttress, and it has an increase in cargo space we desire.
