I copy my post from the maint. forum ->

Try hold the radio on/off button for 5 secs or so to reboot the radio. No need to stop the car. I have the same Prius v "Lemon" and several trips to the dealers end up they cannot get the radio part. End up calling the customer experience dept and assigned a case manager. He said he cannot help but the part is from Panasonic and I am 7th on the list - August 15 is the date. Today is 07/01 and got a call the part is in. Will go and have it replace tomorrow. Will give an update tomorrow. Now find out the auto rear mirror is not working and no dimming. Getting high end advanced package is definitely a bad idea. I leased a model 2 for 3 years and have no problem at all.

*** Just got back from the dealer. Waited 3 hours for the replacement radio to be put in. The plastic covering the screen is still there may be that means it is a new unit. All is working. Will check it out for a few more days to confirm. If you have problem talking to the dealer (nothing they can do) call the customer experience dept -> 800-334-4331. The case manager will help you out.

Just got word that the head unit is on "national back order" and isn't expected in until July 28th. Of course, I knew that because of you guys, but it felt super vindicating in that "I told you so" kinda way after the service people thought I wa just a stupid girl.

Toyota has a Warranty on this: Service Bulletin is T-SB-0036-15. CAll the dealer and that's all they should need. I took a video of mine not working and they looked at it via dropbox so I never brought it in for diagnostics. Part is on order. What a bummer for such a new car...

Just an update. I had a new head unit installed in my Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) June 24/15. To date I haven't had any of the "freezing" which was occurring on a fairly regular basis --- especially when the interior of the car got pretty hot.

However, there seems to be some quirkiness in the "new" system which I will have to keep an eye on and log. Whenever I complete my drive, I may have the Navigation screen active when turning off the ignition. The next time I start the car, the screen has defaulted to the Home screen. Sometimes I leave the APP screen on and again when the car is restarted, the Home screen appears.

I am aware in the Set Up options that defaulting to the Home screen can be chosen, however, in my case, I have un-selected that choice but it continues to default to the Home screen on a restart.

I will be leaving on a months driving trip and it will be interesting to see how the screen functions. I am not impressed with the Speech Recognition and, in my opinion, my Garmin 2595 outperforms the Navigation, Speech Recognition, and Bluetooth system in my Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon, not an uppercase)

San Francisco Toyota replicated the problem and along with my video - sending information to Toyota USA and placing order for unit. Backorder will take some time to work through. Glad it is being handled though.

Does this problem only apply to the Prius v? I have a Prius sedan, not the v. It appears to have the same problem as mentioned in this thread. But I couldn't find the same problem in other threads in this forum.

    Thanks

It applies to the new (2015) 6" HD display system used in several models, built by Panasonic.

By the way, my dealer ordered the part and it is on backorder. They told me not to expect it before September 30, 2015, which at the time was about 3 months.

Same thing happened to me. After 3 days of ownership, radio touchscreen was unresponsive unless I restart the car then after a few minutes it would be unresponsive again. I took it to the dealer and they are ordering me a new radio. They said this happens a lot on Prius v.

I picked up my Prius v on May 6, 2015. I took it back on May 12, 2015 as the screen was freezing. The service person did not even get into the car to look at it, but just told me she would order a new one. They called me on July 7, 2015 to say the new unit had arrived. I went down that evening and 1.5 hours later I drove out. It has been working fine since.

    Hello,

I have a 2013 Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) Three (three not III). Bought it brand new and since day one have had problems with the USB connection. The dealership replaced a part for that but it was like pulling teeth to get them to do it. I also get kicked off of my bluetooth for music and have to reconnect quite frequently in order to use the voice command. Toyota says it's an iPhone issue of course, although I think that's BS. About 15k miles later (today 7/18/15), my whole audio system froze. I do not have access to voice activation, bluetooth, music, the phone, or the GPS. The entire audio system will not power on at all. If it does, it only lasts a couple of minutes then it shuts off. I'm taking it into the dealership on Tuesday and demanding they fix it! I'll try to keep you guys posted. I did make a small video showing that my audio system will not turn on or reboot. I think you should always make a video just in case your car decides to behave at the dealership and make you look like an idiot to where you waist your time and nothing gets fixed. I tried to upload the video on here with no success. Took it with my iPhone, but maybe the file is too big.

Just Picked up a v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) Five Demo w/ 8,800 miles on it.
I also noticed that the touch screen would intermittently become unresponsive.
Restarting, or rebooting the system would return the touch screen to normal.
Not acceptable, I'm on the phone.

This is not acceptable. I just bought a new prius and the same thing happened and they told me that a new unit won't be ready for 2 months. I am very upset and am taking action against the dealership and toyota

After getting the usual run-around the dealership said that my unit is slated to arrive on the 19th. My unit is so bad with the Miami heat that the unit will sometimes refuse to reboot. What a painful experience. I usually research before I buy, and this time I allowed myself to be "sold". I ended up with a model that I don't particularly care for and with this serious defect.

My Head Unit is being replaced next Wednesday on my 2015 v. The symptoms were are very specific. The screen seems to be intolerant of heat. If the car is parked in the sun for any period of time the touch screen will stop responding to touch until the car (screen?) is cooled AND the car is powered off and back on again. Like clockwork. Will let you know if the new HU fixes things.

I should note my dealership has been great. When I first reported the issue they immediately checked the system software, found it was current and booked an appointment to replace the HU. No fuss, no muss and they said they need the car for just 1 hour. Absolutely painless.

My dealership ordered my replacement part on July 1st. I am still waiting on mine. They tell me it is on national backorder and don't expect it until September 31st. I wonder what is different which allows everyone else to get theirs? Is it because Gulf States Toyota is having a hard time getting the part, while other Toyota parts suppliers are having more success?

Well, first, I'm in Canada. Second, I think that, at the very least, the software that my radio runs is different than the US version and it's possible the parts are too. We don't have Entune or whatever the connected app is. We go very very simple and other than music and cell there isn't much our phones do in our v. This is my first experience getting a part for my v as just go the thing about 6 weeks ago.

    I am just reporting back.
They replaced the unit, and so far so good.
Have not been able to reproduce the issue at all in this hot summer. (it's been pretty hot summer here in PDX, OR this year)

I just got my new Prius v yesterday and so far, the screen has become unresponsive 5 times. The only fix I found (other than swearing out loud) is to stop the car and restart...
