Not to mention that the 'friend' deflects any accusations of selling OP a car with a problem on to somebody else.

The 'blame game' is just an annoying version of 'musical chairs.'

Well I think if anything they are angry that the 'pristine' Prius was 'molested' (their words) by someone causing it damage after never having a single thing wrong with it until that very day, but yeah I see how it sounds and appears Sagebrush... and annoying I do agree. I'm done with it, as I respect you all and have learned so much and I'm so relieved and the resolution/fix was so small compared to what it could have been.. it can just remain a mystery I don't care.. I'm out of the blame game completely now, done with it. :D

There are many Pristine European cars that have electrical issues that are only a few years old. Your Prius is 10+ years old, having an electrical problem is not all that strange. These things just happen.

I'm quite ticked off my brand new Whirlpool fridge has an electrical issue where the freezer light intermittently turns off and on, while staying off majority of the time. But that's for another forum....:D

Good point JC, and well taken. Absolutely how it is 'due' on a car 10 years old, something was bound to finally happen anyway..

Yeah these dang appliances (expensive ones like refrigerators!) can cause us so much heart burn!! Been there too ugh !!

Trouble shooting time can be saved by "slaving" in another part or swapping boxes, but with electrical issues you have to be certain there's no short in/to the harness...otherwise you just fried another box.

I'm a Whirlpool homie, and have been for about 20 years.
I hope their well founded reputation for reliability is not going away.

Interesting point, and I can see how that could happen.

I have bought two refrigerators my entire life LOL
The most recent was $900, though I sold the 20 year old for $200 for a $700 net cost. The swap was in order to drop the electric consumption by more than half -- from 2 kWh a day to ~ 0.7. That saves about 15 cents a day in energy. The unexpected bigger savings though actually came from better performance and less vegetable/fruit waste.

One of my best purchases was the washing machine. We went with a 'Roper,' which is the cheap brand of Whirlpool ;)
No frills, no crap, runs for decades. $300

That almost sounds like me, I have maybe had 3 refrigerators my entire life too, but haven't really been loyal to a specific brand. That is pretty good you got 200 bucks out of a 20 YO frig that was still working too! I have an energy reader that I bought and I am going to start checking energy consumption on my appliances/TVs/etc. so I can see where the vampires are.. yes I would think a good frig is saving a lot of food waste!

I have never heard of a Roper so that is interesting, and the one I just purchased is an LG model. I had a bathroom remodel in my townhouse and my washing area was in the garage and I hated it, so when I did a bathroom remodel, I pulled out one of the sinks and installed a washer/dryer combo. It always amazes people that one unit can do both (and it's ventless as I didn't have a vent in the bathroom) and it's supposed to be energy efficient and all of that, I am really enjoying it.. it does seem the technology should be there as why are we bending over and taking stuff out of one 'box' and putting it in another 'box' right?

Samsung and LG parts are not easy to come by when you need them, at least not in a timely matter. So cross your fingers that nothing will go wrong.

A washer and dryer combo? and with no vent? Wow, how does that work.

IIRC the Europeans have had combo models for a while, but I cannot remember the technology used.
Personally, I much prefer clothes that have been on a line outside. Not only is it cheaper, easier on the clothes, and energy free, the clothes (at least in my climate) are a pleasure to wear. We've gotten pretty efficient at pulling out the wet clothes and putting them on hangars, that are then hung on the line. Minimal extra time or hassle involved. We do have an electric dryer as a back-up but it gets very little use.

I know it uses steam technology instead of the venting system.. seems to work too. I take the clothes out and they feel slightly dampish but within a couple of minutes they are completely dry because the 'steam' feel was still left in the clothes.. Works great actually here's the link: LG WM3997HWA: Front Load Washer Dryer Combo | LG USA

I remember that is how my mother did it when I was very young, and my grandmother too.. and I do remember that sunfresh smell that you can only get from having clothes dried naturally outside! I wish I could do that but I live in a townhome and they have their strict HOA rules about hanging anything outside on our patios/decks as some have tried it. I wish I could do that sagebrush, I really do. I hope to move in a couple of years and get out of that place.

That is interesting. I wish I could figure out the cost of the combo over traditional units, like that article did with the heat pump dryer. I suppose I could do that would take a little time to figure it out.
