I've had my eye on the Prius for years now, but I finally pulled the trigger and drove home in a new (to me) 2008 Toyota Prius yesterday! Haven't done much driving yet, but so far so good and can't wait to share my experiences!

Bought myself a one owner, all maintenance records, 73k mileage 2007 Prius yesterday. Package 6 also! She'd even did all fluid changes on time, including drive line.

Would you mind letting us know which LED headlights you went with? I've been deciding upon those or xenon. I have xenon in my other two cars, but was looking for other options. Thanks...

Just joined prius chat, but bought my 04 prius second hand in 2010. Here is a picture of my combination meter replacement, with the dash all taken apart.

Any good thread for "What did you do to your Gen II Prius"? I found a thread for Gen III but not Gen II.

So far I've taken off the wheel trim rings, debaged the rear and sides, stubby antenna, fixed passenger side sagging rear bumper spoiler trim, and connected my phone and garage opener to the car.

We bought our 2015 absolutely red prius persona 12 days ago and love it so far. It's my wife's daily driver, but I've driven it enough to know that I really like the car. We got it for $22,000 ($23,438 OTD). Here are some photos I took today. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Hola Prius people.. I'm a newbie here, just joined about 3 minutes prior to starting to type this intro up. Before I do introduce myself, though, thank you to all of you Prius posters for unknowingly helping this guy begin to delve deeper into considering a Prius.

About 7 years ago I bought my latest car (before a few days ago anyhow). That was a Buick Park Ave that I bought after going on a road trip with an ex (not at the time) in her Park Ave. I fell in love with that thing and was thoroughly impressed with the mpgs for a larger poor man's luxury sedan. Then I spent 7 great years with her - the car, not the gal, it wasn't long after I ran out and got myself a Park Ave that her and I parted ways. Until I bought that Park Ave, I had owned several vehicles - old banger Saab 900, Plymouth Neon, Acura Integra GS-R, 2 Oldsmobile Intrigues, a Pontiac Aztec, Honda Civic Si, Dodge Neon over about a 9 year period. It's fair to say that I disliked the Saab and Neons, liked the Civic & Oldsmobiles, really liked the Aztec (I know, I know.. but the ease of camping, and tailgating at concerts was great and it served that purpose perfectly when I was as earthy crunchy hippie concert, travelling everywhere with a couple acoustics like a mad man phase lol) and also really really liked the GS-R that I totalled and when I really started to decide driving for me would be all about economics and playing it safe. I wasn't driving fast when I totalled it, just a quick thinking maneuver that didn't pan out so hot, but it got me to thinking about the precious nature of life. The car I really loved above all though was the Park Ave, the only one I kept more than a couple years and for me, keeping a car for more than a couple years was like a lifetime.. never mind seven. I recently began pondering trading the grandpa mobile in though. Picked her up with 85k and made it to 199k and change with only general wear and tear maintenance. I was going to have to spend some loot soon though as my safety inspection sticker was coming up and I figured between tires, having some rust repair on the rocker panels, unknown front end work (probably cv joints, wheel bearings or a combo of a few things), I figured I'd be dropping a grand or a tad north. Not a big deal, but began thinking about the possibility that with the mileage heading north of 200k, and with all the luck I'd had something would probably eventually give and big repairs would be on the horizon. So, I figured it was time to invest that money in something new or newer. I was thinking initially new or newer Buick, and then I saw the college grad (non-traditional student with recent comm college diplomas before moving on to the BS) offers from Toyota. They lured me in with the perhaps mis-advertised lease promotions on the Prius, but I'm okay with that. I decided why not check them out? I recall after having picked up the Buick and going for a long ride with an old buddy of mine and catching up that I was elated with that car, but I said to him "my next car though will be a hybrid or fully alternative fuel source".

Truth be told, when I went to the dealership to test the 2015 Prius II models they had in stock, I wasn't expecting much. I figured it would be your typical run of the mill econobox, albeit slower, less comfy and with a rougher ride with the mixing of energy sources. Well slap me and call me Susan, was I as wrong as could be with my assumptions. My jaw must have dropped about 30 times in that 15 minute test drive - it was just a tad shy of being as comfy as the Parky, which I often compared to sitting on a super comfy leather sofa that you sink into. It had dang near as smooth of a ride. I had to strain to tell when the ICE kicked on. It's not going to give you whiplash from being thrown back in the seat, but it had a surprising amount of get up and go. The entertainment tech is just outstanding (I don't miss those days of carrying around a messenger bag with 3 CD cases with 100-200 cds each ha!). The storage for a smallish car is impressive. The mpgs! Are you kidding me!? Needless to say, she was everything I hoped for, but was certain I wouldn't get out of considering a Prius or taking the dive into Priusville. Now, all things considered, I can say without question I have a new car that I love head and shoulders above all the others I've had, even my Park Ave. Now I've even learned some new things, like how to expand upon my ever growing need to get better and better mpgs. I had no idea hypermiling was a thing... but when researching what the term meant, I realized it was what I had been doing since I got my Park Ave and was shocked every time I'd do a long range highway road trip and would stretch back, relax and tally up 40+ mpgs readings.

During the few days leading up to knowing I was going to pull the trigger on a new vehicle I got to check out this site and was pretty blown away how dang sharp the new Prius models were looking and was definitely even more impressed with how some of you are modding your Priuses/Prii a step further. Thanks for raving about these cars, for the tips such as nice looking black alloys under the hubs, y'all definitely played a part in taking me to the next step which is being an all out mad as a hatter lunatic constantly raving about the Prius to anyone he gets a chance to do so until they're rolling their eyes and probably thinking "I didn't want a physics of the prius lesson and a sales pitch of why I need one too you frakin nut job".

Hopefully I'll have opportunity to get to speak with some of you about this newly shared passion that is the Toyota Prius. For now, here's a shot I took at the dealership just prior to signing the paperwork and then another from when I went to pick her up. Pulled those hubs off before I drove out of the parking lot.... and ah, my beloved Park Ave, the photo sans hub caps, in the foreground where the Prius' nose is pointing, there stands my Park Ave after our final drive together. Thought for sure very time I got into whatever my new car would be that I'd be thinking "I miss my Park Ave"...... turns out with a Prius, all I think is "thank all that's good in the world that I moved on because I LOVE this CAR!" Welcome to both of you!

Cocosprius I use to have the same mentality as you when came to prius and now I have the same opinion too.

I think it has enough power get point a to point b. I use drive a v8 with supercharger on it. I can't drive in eco mode, it's horrible...lol. PWR mode makes me feel like I'm going fast but I know I'm not and has to do something with sensitivity of the pedal.

I still drive my 2012 Hyundai sonata turbo which definitely helps me get my "Get up and go" fix and I love my sonata, but I appreciate diving the prius. The seats are arguably more comfy in the prius, although the sonata entertainment/nav system is vastly superior. The prius has enough power to make it a fun diving car, it also has much better handling than some reviews that I've read have given it credit for.

I told my wife after diving it and experiencing the ride, comfort and mostly MPG's that, "I think all cars should be a pure hybrid". From my first impressions, it's an amazingly engineered vehicle.

Those are really nice looking cars.

I think the Prius has gotten much better looking over the years. We went to Little Tokyo last Sunday and saw the full range from Gen1 sedans all the way up to brand new Plug ins. It's amazing how many are on the road around here.

I'm a very conservative driver so the Prius has plenty of "get up and go" for me. What my wife and I are really impressed with is how the air flow at highway speed is relatively quiet. We don't get the sense that we're travelling as fast as we are at 65-70 mph.

Hey everyone! New to the Prius world here. Just got out of my 2005 Dodge Ram and into this sweet 2010 Prius III with only 22k on the clock! She's a week old (to me) and I'm already having a blast averaging 45mpg! I finished up painting the hubcaps yesterday and this was the pic to show them off. I'm not the greatest at using forums, but it's nice to be a part of this community! Peace!

    She's a beauty!

I'm a former long time Jeep driver myself. I will never miss the feeling of blowing all my money at the gas pump every Friday afternoon.
Instead I'm having much more fun spending all my money on my G's retrofit. :)

I wish the persona came in black. To me red is for a fast sports car.

I agree. I do like the color, but it suits a sports car better. My wife is still getting used to the color. The 2013 black cherry color persona is $$. In the end, I like the car and I kind of like the fact it sticks out. My other cars are grey and brown, so this car definitely stands out against them!
