my wife is getting 46 mpg on the screen of her '13 hycam, i wonder how she would do with a mazda 3? i imagine it wouldn't be smooth, quiet or comfortable enough for her anyway. and besides carrying ski's, snowboards and rolled up carpets in the rear seat pass through, she can fit a festivus pole as well.(y)

The Miller cycle engine needs a "supercharger", not a "turbocharger". The turbo comes on at the wrong times to make it work. A supercharger draws power off the crankshaft, not the exhaust. While they are both "forced induction", they are completely different beasts.

A hybrid may benefit from a Miller cycle in which the super charger is electric.

This is called chewing the fat until Gen IV is announced. Too bad we don't have a porch and some stairs to hang out for these discussions.

So it would appear that the NEW Prius HB Gen IV will be released some time in September 2015, based on this ‪#‎PriusSweepstakes‬.

Interesting, because I thought I'd read somewhere that Toyota would be introducing the 2016 Prius at the Tokyo Auto Show at the end of October, with deliveries in the spring of 16.

Also, since we are just a couple days shy of August, I'm pretty sure we would have more revealing spy shots at this point if they were doing a September release.

See tonypschafer's thread 'everything we know about ... ' with Arifleet and Element fleet dates: Both confirm 2016 Prius begins production end of November 2015, so there is NO WAY the Prius will arrive in Spring of 2016. I think it will arrive on West coast Jan 2016.

Besides, if gen4 did arrive in Spring 2016, they would have some nerve calling it a 2016 model. It should be a 2017 model and be considered 1 year overdue.
Anyhow, no it is not coming that late (Spring 2016)

Try to find your sources next time.

That would mean the Gen 3 has a short 2016 year by that logic (You can't carry over a 2015 MY in January 2016).

Just like gen2 has a short 2009 model year until, what, May 2009.

Well, the first link got dates wrong, they said Tokyo show in Sept. Tokyo show is end of Oct to first week Nov.

    TOKYO MOTOR SHOW WEB SITE

2nd link they sure go crazy showing bloated spy shots of what's obviously a gen3 Prius. But, it's dated right before the LA spy shots came out for 4th gen.

3rd link I sure hope we are getting over the renditions from Taiwan, was it?

For overall driving pleasure and comfort, both the TCH and the Avalon are fantastic. I could not care less about mileage differences between them and the Prius, but cargo room is a big deal. The Avalon Hybrid is a truly great car.

As we continue to browse around and think about replacing the '07 TCH, we noticed lots of cars that are appealing now. In particular, the most fun we've had in a sedan in many years was driving the new Mazda 6. Beautiful inside and out. A more stately sedan is the new Honda Accord. Not as pretty or fun, but larger and more stately. The smaller Mazda 3 is a fun ride as well, and great room with the hatch version.

The saving grace for Toyota is the reliability. For out location, it's also the dealer, which is vastly superior to all other makes around here.

Well, what does anyone expect? We have -NOTHING- substantive to talk about!

I wonder if the GIV will generate 265 pages of posts in a few months. ;)

Oh, and I have "no sheds".
