These people are asking for post-warranty assistance.
It is telling that people like you translate the demand for a Toyota contribution into "warranty assistance."

Personally, I think both sides would be better served by a longer but pro-rated warranty. Or perhaps a hybrid, e.g free for first 100k miles then prorated the next 150k miles.

I know what they are asking for.
You want to nick-pic semantics...go ahead throw in the word "post"....
Has nothing to do with my original comment.

    "People Like You"....geesh....

I actually think your pro-rate idea is good.

All you need to say is, "I wonder what this will look like on social media?".

It has everything to do with your comment. It is retarded to compare a request to Toyota for a warranty repair to a request for subsidized or free repair to a car out of warranty.

My comment was primarily almost specifically about Toyota asking for a list of family members that also owned Toyotas. Which I think is none of their business. And shouldn't have anything to do with whether they decide to offer WARRANTY ASSISTANCE....yes post warranty. Yes, maybe I should of said, "Post" warranty assistance...but it's a Nit Pick of semantics. You didn't understand?

You've now called me "People Like You"...and my comment "Retarded".

    Try to keep it classy...

It doesn't. It has to do with OUT OF warranty subsidy. Toyota is saying that they will invest in owners who are likely to make it worth their while. OP has to convince Toyota that is true. A family of Toyota owning vehicles is a good argument.

Honestly, what is so hard to understand ?

You really don't have to capitalize and bold print OUT OF warranty. How many times to I have to say go ahead and add the word POST warranty. Yeah, I get it, I've always gotten it, he's asking Toyota for help after his warranty has expired.

I still think asking a Toyota Owner for a list of "close family members that own Toyota's or have owned Toyota's" is ridiculous. The only thing that should be required is proof that the person asking for assistance is the legitimate owner of said Toyota product. Whether or not close family members own Toyota's is immaterial.

What is Toyota going to do with this list? Cross check it for accuracy? They want VIN numbers next?

If I'm the only person in my entire family that chose a Toyota does that make me any less deserving of assistance? All that should be important is that I'm a legitimate owner of a Toyota product. Then the decision is up to Toyota.

I have no problem with Toyota factoring in loyalty to Toyota maintenance, making sure there isn't a record of vehicle abuse. But asking for a list of close family members that own Toyota's? None of their damn business.

I totally disagree with this statement: " Toyota is saying that they will invest in owners who are likely to make it worth their while. OP has to convince Toyota that is true. A family of Toyota owning vehicles is a good argument. "

    Ridiculous.

Whether or not Mom, Dad or Uncle Bob happen to own Toyota's is no barometer on whether any investment into a singular owner of a Toyota Product is a "good investment" or worth Toyota's while.

The only thing that should matter is that the person asking legitimately owns a Toyota product.

Most of us don't have any or little control over what other people choose as far as vehicles they wish to own.

Is someone less worthy of post warranty assistance because maybe the rest of their close family happen to like Dodge vehicles?

I own a Prius, like I said, I come from a family that has owned LOTS of Toyota's over generations. In fact, I can't remember a time when somebody close in my family didn't own a Toyota.

BUT I still think asking for a list of family names is ridiculous.

Look at the ownership history of the person asking. Verify ownership. Make the decision.

That's all it should take...whether they help...or whether they deny.

So who does one complain to when corporate gives you the run around for weeks and doesn't call back? Needless to say they didn't call me and when I called this afternoon they told me the person would call me back. It's 6pm I don't think I'm getting a call today.

This would be funny if it weren't about thousands of dollars and my car.

If she does not call tomorrow I would ask that a different Rep take the case. Be polite
Remember that your car is out of warranty and you are asking for a favor.

in another thread, the toyota rep got the guy $1,900., but the battery was $4,900. so they told him if he tried another dealer, they would start the process over.

The only good thing is they sort of owe you decent outcome due to the delay. Somehow you got on the wrong track you gotta call back and say someone figure out this case out.

Someone in very similar situation PM'ed me the other day they got $1500 OTD he was one month over 10 and they did not like his service record. I was trying to get some details before I posted it.

I guess if you get denied for the goodwill warranty, you can have someone else in your (extended) family call in and try to get one.

I'm trying not to be pushy but I called again today and apparently my representative is not in the office today but the person on the phone said my help request is more than they are allowed to do. She said looks like the my rep. is building a cast to take to the department (she's not sure if it's a supervisor or someone above that) including price, service history, brand loyalty etc. The person on the phone didn't know who the rep. was taking the case to or if it's been submitted yet so she couldn't help me.

Of course you are. Just be polite about it. How much time has passed since you applied to corporate ?
