    Hey!

I have been lurking this board for a few days. I signed the papers on a certified preowned 2013 Prius C. It looks mint inside and out with low km and at a great price (plus my insurance dropped a lot!)

Growing up in the Canadian rust belt and in slightly rural parts I have owned a lot of old clunkers. The car I am replacing is a 1998 Mazda 626 which I named "Granny."

Granny was a great car but her lines are leaking. It's getting really dangerous and costly driving her. I bought this Prius because I'm starting my masters degree in the Fall which will require a short daily highway commute. Test driving the Prius C on the highway I did notice it took a bit longer to get up to speed compared to my 626 but I believe at the time of testing it was on ECO mode. Now I'm not one to drive fast but a bit of kick is nice. However, I'm willing to compromise for all the savings I get in mileage and insurance.

I still have a bit of jitters since this is the newest car I have ever purchased and I hope I made the right decision. All my research online and through word of mouth have reassured me that this car will last me a long time and save a lot of money which is what I like: reliability. My good friend's grandfather swears by his 2004 Prius which he's driving for over a decade without any major repairs.

I also love compact Japanese cars! My favorite car I owned was a 1994 Honda Civic hatchback.

I know I should look into getting winter tires for the Prius C eventually to make the winter commute better as we experience the "lake effect" here and it can get tough with all the snow. I'm a very cautious driver and I remember doing fine with an old civic and hyundai accent running on bald tires (highly not recommended.)

Anyways, as I wait for the dealer to do the final certification touches and window tint, I am enjoying going through all the threads and learning about the world of hybrid cars I'm entering. Thanks for creating and participating in this community as it's a wealth of information a nerd like me appreciates. :D

Thanks for the words of encouragement. It's been torture waiting to get the car and I can't stop reading about it which is making the wait even more agonizing. It's going to be a great summer once I get the car and I can go on road trips.

I'm not sure what type of 2013 Prius C it is. It's the one with the tech package but no Navi. I need to find a nice phone dock because I'll be relying on it for navigation and music. I have never had a car with fancy bluetooth hands free calling and music sync before. Can't wait!!

edit: Figured it out! I got a 2013 Prius C TWO
