What am I doing wrong? Car stays on. Possible Malfunction? 2011 THREE

    I used to drive a 2006 Prius, so I know how to turn it off. I just got a 2011 Three 70K miles, and somehow, the car is running at night ! I have the car in park, press the power button, and see the lights out on the dash. Gas mileage is horrendous. Someone told me the car was running at night. Is there something I can do to ensure the car is off? Am I doing something wrong? I cant figure it out. The guy at Toyota says that it has checked out, and has no problems.

    Is it possible for the car to be staying on by itself, or turning on by itself?

    Please help, and thanks.

    As I said before, I had a 2006 Prius, and never had an issue like this. I pressed the power button, and it shut off.

    have you seen it turn on by itself? do you smoke the good stuff?

    I guess theres something Im doing wrong when I shut it off. Is there a way to partially shut it off?I know its kind of funny, but I am really stressed. I want to be sure theres nothing wrong with this car. Whats different with this one that Im not shutting it off properly than my 2006

    There's no difference, who told you the car was not off? Did you see it on?

    check your 12 volt battery connections for cleanliness and tightness, especially where the negative cable connects to the body. and also check your 12 volt health.

    Hmm, running at night. Is the A/C on? Dash lamps remaining on? Could it be one of the main relays not turning off?

    Please tell us what you mileage is.This is very curious indeed.

    sometimes, non prius owners hear your car make a funny noise, and they think it's on.

    definitely on. trip a says avg speed 6 mph. trip b 2 mph

    We had a 2010 Camry Hybrid that if you left it out in the sun, we couldn't get the READY light. Toyota sent a field tech and they changed the main wiring harness.

    It took two weeks and the dealership couldn't replicate it. It was fixed. Wiring harnesses are expensive. Thank God for extended warranty.
