Are we restricted on our lowering compared to 3 gens?

I have been looking for awhile now on lowering my 08. So I googled stanced/slammed prius and almost 99% are 3 gen. So the question is are we more restricted height unless going on air or is it because the 3 gens appeal to more people. I like the way this 3 gen looks (pic) minus so much camber in the back, good height and offset in my opinion.

I understand it can look cool to lower a car, but that's so low you'd have to drive like a granny and still would scrape. and it looks like they got too much negative camber which wears tires bad.

the whole purpose of suspension and tire mods is to go faster, not slower. any mod that slows you down is just stupid.

there are options for lowering springs, coil-overs etc. but there is no logical reason to overdo it.

I don't know the answer to your question about the lowering restriction. It depends on a lot of things, negative camber to tuck the top of the tire into the wheel well, the size of the rims and tires. Do you want to use your car as a daily driver, or show-only car? If its a daily driver I'd avoid slamming it to the ground, because then it would be difficult to drive over speed bumps or potholes etc without damaging something. It sure would suck to invest a lot of money into lowering the car, and then driving over a pot hole and having it ruined...

There are more options available for the Gen-III's because modding the Prius really didn't become popular until the Gen-III came out. Another thing to note is that a lot of slammed cars, have a body kit on it, which gives it the appearance of being even lower more than it really is. The pic above has a front splitter, I don't know if the side-skirts are stock... but for a daily driver I'd shy away from adding a body kit, unless it's polyurethane or a hybrid of poly and fiber-glass. And remember, when you buy a bodykit, most are not formed to bolt on and go, most take extra bodywork, shaving, cutting and forming to fit etc. I'd stay away from straight fiberglass kits they break apart and split easily. I'm planning on lowering my '09 with Megan racing coil-overs, you can search the priuschat forums and find multiple ways of lowering. Don't forget once you start your project, to take pictures and post on the site! :)

I would buy some good quality performance springs. they will lower the car a bit, but your handling will be improved and that's more important than "stance". other than that you can get coil overs and set the height right where you want it. then drive it like ya stole it. but that cool looking front lip would be toasted quick if I put it on my car...

Most of the 'stance' look G3s are running airbags and they do make them for the G2..

several companies carry bag systems for our NHW20 prius.

    AirRunner

    AirRex

    KSport

I got this on my 2007 and 2008 with a Ground Control kit but is definitely NOT adjustable on the fly - adjustable but takes about 1hr to adjust the height on all 4 corners.
