Thought I would post this to help others who may have similar situation.

2005 Prius, 130K, Check Engine Light came on. Code: P1121 Problem: Coolant Control Valve may not be operating correctly.

Per CA Emissions Warranty, repair was completed by dealership free of charge. I called Toyota directly at first, they said it was not covered by warranty. Then I checked with local dealer who ran the vin and said it was covered and fixed it that day. Stoked for great local dealership service.

The 3-way valve controls flow to the thermos, Bisco.

Great news and great dealer for sure. I've heard of the 3-way valve being done under warranty before but can't remember if it was also in Cali. Sure seems like one of those areas where the "typical" dealer may not feel it's a warranty item.

Coincidentally, I did the 3-way valve in my daughters '07 a week ago tonight. I pulled the 3 inverter mount bolts and swapped the valve topside as the Luscious blog states with little fanfare. At 152k miles, it was due for it's second ice coolant change so I drained it all from the rad and the thermos. Yeah, the re-fill and the bleed of that circuit are every bit the pain in the nice person that anyone who has ever done it says it is. Used Pat Wong's relay jump trick and several drive cycles to get it fully topped and gurgle free. I think edthefox5's method of dumping and refilling the rad at set intervals sounds better than doing a full circuit drain again!

Just did this last night on an 07. No coolant came out of the hot coolant tank cock but a lot came out when I took off the lower hose. BTW where are the 3 mounting bolts for the inverter?
Shout out to Patrick Wong as well!
