You're referring to the acrylic versus polycarbonate. Acrylic isn't as strong as polycarbonate but I'm not using it for protection.

I was also debating if I even wanted this on my car in terms of aesthetics.

Ohh ic but ya I had the acrylic and it suck. These are stronger and thicker and no noise. The pin is what I wanted cause I wanted the same design like the JDM design

Only time will tell.. but most window visors are made of acrylic including Weather Tech's.

I am not sure which JDM ones you are referring to but the OEM ones do not use a button to cover hardware like these Wellvisors. OEM uses a clip.

I'll report back when I use them a little more.

the visor cracks because of the material.... a lot of the deflectors/visors out there are made of acrylic, and the thickness of the visors matters too.

Looking at the way these form around the window, I would suspect that the thicker the material, the thickness of the 3M tape will need to be. Since the car surface is not flat, the visor is forced to form to it and held in place with the double sided tape. If the material is thicker which will have even less give, it may bend enough so keep the tape in place. I suspect that's part of the reason why clips and hardware are used.

WellVisors are the best after market visor available. They may be even better then OEM. I have them on two of my cars and they look great. I love that they have the seamless look between the front and rear windows, just like the JDM ones that cost $150.00 more!

Considering wellvisors for good $50 price for a set of 4, and locking clip, but surprised that a couple people said water gets in on the rear windows when parked in the rain, which is their main purpose, to keep the car cool and prevent rain getting in. Do they also get water ingress on the rears while in motion? What if the window is cracked just 1/4 inch? Anyone have any updates on performance after 2-3 years? Thanks

Stick to oem if you can afford it. ... fit and finish is better and no damn buttons.

    Yes it cost more. Period.
