I replaced the HV battery pack today. Mechanically not a bad job as long as the proper safety gear is used ( class 0 gloves and a multimeter). I see hacks doing maintenance on YouTube without using lineman gloves. After restarting the car, it got interesting. The car ran for about a minute, then threw the main battery fail symbol on the led screen along with the red triangle. The code was for a bad throttle position sensor (wierd as this was not the case before the batt change) and it would go into neutral when I attempted to shift into D or R. Also, it would not shut off with the brake pedal depressed, it only would power down whn I did not press the brake pedal while pushing the power button. The 12 volt measured 12.5 so I threw a charger on it anyway. It definitely drew current from the trickle charger for a good 3 hours. I'm going to try it again in a couple of hours to see if charging the 12v resolves the wacky ECU function.

Sounds good. Is that a gen 1 or 2? If a gen1 they would be interested in it in that forum.

Assuming you disconnected the 12 volt, or at least the negative lead, while doing the hybrid battery swap, maybe somehow related, something misconnected, or a memory loss?

Strange, the shifter and brake pedal issues, too.

    Good luck, post updates. :)

It's a gen2 2005. I removed the gnd before starting and followed everything per their vid. It seems that this battery is not playing nice with this vehicle. I completed the charge and tried agai. With same bizarre behavior only this time I got the main battery symbol and the red hybrid vehicle symbol. After I hear back from dorman I will try swapping back in the original to see if faults repeat. If so, I just may have it taken to a dealer for a reboot or something and then make a decision on what to do. At least I could tool around with the original battery before even with a couple of bad cells. btw I just bought my third one- 2015 Prius 3 package. Nice rig I must say. gen1 was donated and is either living a nice life or was parted out.

You could try putting your original battery ecu in the Doorman battery. What do you have for a code reader?

Ok my worst fears were laid to rest...the dtc's were related to throttle body function. It turned out that it needed a good cleaning. I removed the TB last night and thoroughly cleaned it. reinstalled and the car powered up nice and no fault codes or warning lights anywhere. The battery warnings must have been displayed because the system wasn't starting properly with the stuck throttle plate. It probably stuck from not being driven for a couple of weeks in the dirty state. Batt fully charged with 5 mile drive...no more faults!
