The battery pack in any hybrid Toyota is warranted either for 10 years or 150,000 miles (in states with California emissions laws) or 8 years or 100,000 miles in all other states.

So I hear my side rear air vent come on at least once or twice daily. Is this normal? How often does that air vent fan turn on to cool the battery pack?

Guess I'm not sure what normal operating mode is for that side rear air vent. I just want to make sure it's working properly.

My bumper was also removed by the dealer to be repainted and now I'm worried the exit vents are blocked from improper installation.

The body shop might be the responsible, and be hard to pin down. Just for giggles: take a peak on both sides of the outlet vents, looking for masking tape or?

A Scangauge with xgauge added can monitor battery temp and fan speed. Something to consider.

@Mendel Leisk, If I was to look under the bumper, are the outlet vents visible? Or would you have to remove panels and clips?

You can check both from inside. Pull out the hatch floor, tray, and corner floor pieces and they're accessible. Feel with your fingers if the flaps open. They're very light and flexible.

Hmm, see a little overspray on ours, on the driver's side (second pic). We had signif body work on that side.

the cooling fan runs, based on battery temp. not only on/off, but multiple speeds like your hvac fan. sometimes you hear it, sometimes you don't. don't start projecting spenny's problems onto you, we don't even know what his problem is yet!:p

Checked vent flaps all open fine.
Thought the air is blown out from these exit vents. Do the flaps open both directions? I pushed in and it opens into the vent.

The vents are exit only. The other possibility is, again: the fan is somehow running wrong direction. Miswired?

I think it's all working fine. So all the cold air is sucked into the right passenger air vent, all the hot air travels out of the duck bill vent under the passenger rear trunk area and ultimately all the hot air exits the vents located at the left and right side rear bumper to its final destination, completely outside of the car.

Oh really? When you're in the hatch area, they should be pushing OUTWARDS easy. Maybe put in wrong way round, by body shop?

On mine when I looked, when you release its locking tabs it falls towards outside. I think.

    Let's regroup:
If air is definitely blowing into the cabin by the rear passenger door, take it to the dealer posthaste! You're wasting valuable time asking this forum to try and figure out the problem for you. The traction (HV) battery is too important to ignore.

Somewhat true, but ... The cargo floor does not have air-tight seals, so nothing prevents some of the air that has passed though the battery-cooling fan and battery from recirculating back into the cabin. The net flow rate of air exiting the cabin through those rear vents should equal the flow rate entering through the HVAC cabin air filter, ignoring incidental leakage through miscellaneous other openings.
