    I see stuff about the '3' ... but nothing on Tesla's next offering, the X. Yet the X will be in production this summer. The reservation line was closed for a bit, but - now that it's back open ... we klunked down the requisite 5 g's to hold a spot in line. Rumor has it that since we're at the back of the line, ours won't likely be ready until after the end of 2015.

    There hasn't been much in the way of leaked photos of the gen II PiP, nor the gen IV Prius ... but there ARE some interesting pic's of the X test mules running around the landscape. Check out these shots that show NO rear view mirror! Just cameras in odd places ... like fender wells, and the side of the car;

    nVidia, maker of hd mini cams & acompanying hardware have teamed up with Tesla ... so it looks like the X is going to have a way more 'WOW' factor than I'd first imagined.

    I thought the issue with cameras for mirrors was legislative.

    And that was only as exciting as Tesla's - reveal's - have been, and they've been tight lipped - especially being only 3 months away from availability. With availability so close, it's likely to be the production models roaming the streets. But there have been a LOT of sightings around Fremont & Los Altos during the past couple weeks. These photos (ostensibly taken by a contract engineer - maybe shot w/out permission - unless they're just a clever form of advertising) give a grasp of relational size to the S, how much taller it (only) is;

    It appears they have done away with the tesla S nose cone.
    sorry bisco - that's all of the 'exciting' for now
    ;)

    I was talking with my Tesla sales guy today about the X, and he commented that "women like the Model X" more than men, and vice versa with respect to the S.

    Rumbling is the factory line for the X is about a month away...

    That fits our situation. The X will be for "she-who-must-be-obeyed" ...
    But wait .... More news !

    At the end of the earnings call last month, Elon said Model X buyers will be able to configure their cars "in July" .... so this is it! This month, Tesla will necessarily reveal the production version, including choice of interior/exterior colors, wheel sizes, traction pack sizes etc. Those who are at the front of the line for the limited 'signature' version will then be in wait mode. There's an event coming up mid month. I suspect that will be the big show. Hope i can go or at least get an invite

    if it's more appealing to women, i'm likely to be interested. is it going to be less sporty and more utilitarian?

    There will be a lot more discussion once Tesla releases some information.
    All we know now is the X will be about 10% heavier and come in the standard drive train as well as a performance model.
    3rd row is optional.

    In June, Tesla said signature reservation holders should get to design theirs in July, so within a week or so hopefully we will know more.

    Well .... similar to the 1st configurations of the model S, Tesla seems to be running behind on the X orders. No word yet as to whether the signature folks @ the front of the line will be putting in their orders soon, or not. Better late than shoddy I suppose.
    :(

    Time to trickle another nugget. Elon posted a shot of some of the 1st X's going thru their robot laden assembly line. Woo hoo !! I took the trouble to roughly sketch around the bare frame of the car as best as possible. Someone had to point it out to me. Otherwise, it'd look like one of those color blind test, trying to pick it out.

    Those robots look way cool ~
