Need Help Buying 2008 Prius (with almost 92000 miles).

    My family is in need of a new car to accompany our 2013 Prius, we are looking at a used 2008 Prius with 92000 miles. I am going back to see the car tomorrow and I wanted to ask about specific maintenance that has been done by the first owner as well as have them check specific parts that usually need service around 100000.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    No point in asking the salesman, you should assume that s/he is lying whenever his/her lips are moving.

    Record the VIN and look it up on Toyota's website to see what services were performed by dealerships. You could also look up the VIN on Carfax to see what accidents may have been recorded. Make sure the car has a clear title.

    As previously suggested, the car should be inspected by a competent third party who does not have an interest in the car's sale.

    welcome! doesn't require much maintenance to 100k. make sure it hasn't been in any accidents, had oil and filter very 5k, check the air and cabin filters, tyres, change tranny oil if it hasn't been done, and get ready to change all the coolants in the near future and spark plugs. also the serpentine belt and maybe water pump. check the age of the 12 volt and replace if original. make sure all recalls done. might need some suspension work soon, etc., etc., etc. 2008 was great year and should last you a long time, but look into where it was first registered and see if you get 8/100 or 10/150 hybrid warranty. all the best!(y)
