Hi.. iam Ashlesh from fiji islands and own a toyota prius year 2007 model. The car has done 42000KM and i hear a wabbling sound on rough or uneven road from left hand side.
My mechanic has checked the shock absorber and says the it needs to be replaced.
Colleagues..i need your help as i cannot find a shock absorber in fiji.
The part number written on shocks is 4852047041 but toyota website says 4852080064.
I ordered one from alibaba but they send a wrong one which cannot fit. Some websites say that KYB333389 will fit.I emailed tech support at kyb and asked the distance between the holes of the stru and they said it is 1.57inches.
My prius the distance is 2 inches. Please someone advise me i need your help urgently..
    Thanks
    Ashlesh from fiji islands.

Don't know about the Toyota parts number, but you can get KYB driver side-KY333389, passenger side-
KY333388, and rears-KY341322. If your prius is US standard, the numbers I've given you should work.

I have no idea what your are talking about 2inch diameter hole.
    1) You report a valid Toyota part number (4852080064) for a FRONT Left Strut.
    2) You report a valid KYB part number (333389) for a FRONT Left Strut.
    3) Part numbers may change over time, and/or may get discontinued over time too.
    4) You state a 2inch diameter hole. KYB reports 1.57inch diameter hole. How certain are you of your measurements? How certain are you of KYBs measurements for the FRONT Left Strut? Maybe they gave you the measurement of the rear shock? Maybe the way you measured is different from the way KYB measured?

I am deducing that your Prius is a JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) model. Assuming my deduction is correct, the only difference between a USA vs Japan model Gen2 Prius, besides Left hand vs Right hand drive placement and language, is the CHRS (Coolant Heat Recovery System) found on USA model Prius. This means the consumable suspension components (strut/shock, strut mount, bushings, upper insulators, lower insulators, and busings) will be the same for both USA and Japan models. If you don't already know, auto manufactures like parts to fit as many models for as long as possible, for obvious reasons; keep parts costs down, to make sales more profitable. It would be costly to make specific suspension components for a USA vs Japan car.

Base vs Touring Prius only differ in sway bars (front and rear), and the rear shock absorber assembly (likely due to a stiffer spring on the Touring model, but same shock for both sub models).

The two largest USA strut/shock manufactures (KYB, Monroe) recommend strut/shock absorber replacement at 5year/50,000mile intervals, to maintain OPTIMUM suspension characteristics. My delayed replacement and surprise of how bad the struts and shocks were, make me a firm believer in the replacement interval, to maintain OPTIMUM suspension characteristics.

My post #1 has the parts diagram of front and rear suspension.. Post #13 has the description of the parts I ultimately got; I encourage you to get these same parts to ensure no issues. Additional Front/Rear Strut Replacement Parts Needed Too? | PriusChat
