    Hello PC'ers,

Bought my 06 Prius 5 days ago. Tonight I finally got my hands dirty! I blacked out the emblems/badges with plastidip! Originally I was going to remove the badges and paint them, but after seeing a few DIY's on youtube (
), I decided to paint them directly on the vehicle without removing them. I followed the steps on the video and here are a few pictures of the project. I know the picture of the peel off part of the project is for a different emblem, but I forgot to take a pic of the peel off of that portion. Its only included to show how it peeled off the body of the vehicle but remained on the badge.

This was a lot of fun! For the badge that reads HYBRID SYNERGY DRIVE I taped off the blue strip so it was not dipped (as pictured). I will add more pictures tomorrow as by the time I finished it was dark and I couldnt get good pics of all the emblems. 20150823_173924.jpg 20150823_182106.jpg

I like the blacked out T, but your supposed to remove the other badges for a cleaner look. unless, of course, you like the other badges...

You mean the side badges that say Hybrid or all the badges other than the toyota logo? I did have that thought....

I think he means the badges on the back lift-gate. Although I kind'a like them in black! :)

It has a real "clean" look. Like to a non-Prius owner the black emblems look like they're supposed to be that way; where as a actual Prius owner would know that you did something, and they'd say "wow! that looks good! why doesn't my Prius look like that?!"

I removed my emblems on the lift-gate long time ago, but I think they look really nice with the black plastidip. FYI: the emblems on the fenders have plastic tabs / prongs that stick into the fender so don't remove them. - otherwise you'll have visible holes in your fender...

yeah, I'd remove the side emblems if they didn't have the holes in the fenders. but the hatch looks better with all that stuff removed.

I have no badges or any markings on my chevelle, one day some bitch cop wrote me a parking ticket for parking frontwards in a space where the sign that said "back in only" was so far away I never saw it. but they wrote the ticket for a Pontiac cause there was no emblems on the car. so I didn't have to pay. anyway I think it looks cleaner to remove anything extra.

I did it today. I removed all the badges. The 2006 Prius's side emblems are held with adhesive - NO holes!!! Ill post pics soon. I scuffed up the clear coat a little bit in the process of removing the adhesive. Anyone have any advice on fixing the scuff marks on the adhesive?

    Thanks for the comments all!

get some rubbing compound and a lint free cloth and hand rub the scuffs. machine buffing is quicker but you could wear through the clearcoat. I have a july 2006 made car. I wonder when they started putting the holes in the fenders? I really would love to pull the side badges.

my friend has a ford, and he somewhere got biohazard badges to replace the ford ovals on the trunk and hood. I'd love to find something like that to replace my ovals. but they do look pretty good blacked out. maybe i'll just go get some plastidip...
