Noise on left front that will not go away!! Please help!!

    I hit a curb in my Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) (5) (in Pittsburgh) and the passenger front and rear contacted the curb. I hit it going between 10-15 mph (I was trying to pull into a parking lot and misjudged the curb). I drove back to Washington, DC (where I live) with the car severely out of alignment. I also had an awful noise on the left front side of the car and vibration (it sounded like womp, womp) and it was only apparent between 60-70 mph. I took the car to the Toyota dealer and got the car aligned and balanced. The noise was still there. I took it back and they said the bearings, struts, and cv joints all look good. The noise was still there. I took it to another dealer and they said the wheels that hit the curb were "out of round" and that the tire cords (that hit the curb) may be damaged. I then bought to new rims and the noise is still there. I am hesitant to buy new tires and still have the noise there. What do you think I should do?

    Rotate the tires and see if the noise stays in the front left or goes wherever that tire goes.

    I had the tires balanced and rotated 3 times.

    unfortunately, i played this game with an olds alero in the late 90's after my son hit a curb with the right front wheel. after i had the tyre, wheel, hub, bearings, cv joint, speed sensor replaced one after the other, to the tune of almost a thousand dollars, and the noise was still there, the mechanic said it could be the axle shaft. but even replacing that for another six hundred was no guarantee, and it might be in the tranny. that's when we traded in for our first toyota camry. all the best.(y)

    In that case, new tires probably won't help.

    Frame bent which means alignment off? Have measured at body shop.

    I've had as many as 3 wheels that weren't true/straight on the same car. Amazing what replacing them will do. You may have moved the tires and wheels around enough so that the wheels you replaced aren't the ones that made the contact. Do you still have access to the bad ones?

    Anyone looked at the brakes on the contact side?

    I once did this in an old ford cortina in the seventies, bumped up a kerb with both front wheels, knocked the front suspension bushes out. I replaced the bushes, had the alignment done and everything was ok apart from a worn bearing type noise, no play in the bearings, which were tapered, adjustable, roller bearings. I stripped the bearings and found impact damage on some of the rollers. replaced the bearings and the noise went away. Modern bearings are not strippable, they're sealed units so you can't inspect the rollers or balls for damage, all the dealer will have done is check for play.
