looking at wheels on the silver car, looks to be the same as the current generation wheels, most likely with a plastic hubcap covering it later.

I'm chuckling at all the negativity.

    The car looks great.

Gen 3 was an improvement on gen 2 (albeit incremental) and this is an even larger design move forward.
God forbid something happens to my 06, but if it did, this would be my next car.

The photo of the Volt reminded me of something.

All of the complaints about "the rearward visibility must be horrible because of that blacked out pillar", yet no one said a thing when the 2G Volt was released and the C-pillar looks about as thick as the 4G Prius to me. Of course, I have no concrete evidence (no one's actually measured the thickness of the pillars of the two cars) but neither have those who commented on it.

    In reverse order...

This is about the only thing I can agree with. For me, the selling point would be the obvious off-the-charts practicality of the Prius, (now first-hand) knowledge of the joy of owning one, and the promise of possible performance/efficiency improvements over prior generations. All that would have to work against this new over-styling... but for me, the left-brain arguments would win over the right-brain disgust at the over-wrought design with no functional intent but to differentiate itself from everything else.

...in much the way the subsequent Empire Strikes Back (and to a lesser-extent, Return of the Jedi) was an improvement on Star Wars... The Phantom Menace could be considered an even larger move "forward". :D

(Again, this is only in reference to the styling.)

Nope. Gen3 Prius roof peak further back than 2016 Volt and Volt's hood is lower.

It seems there is no turn-signal mirror but a chrome strip. The EU spec will have for sure the turn signal in the same place..

One thing I worry about with the new Prius...Will the hatch go as high as the current gen? I surely dislike my hatch hitting the garage door and sometimes the kids try to close the garage door with the hatch still up....ugh!

So, you want it to, or don't want it to?

I think it goes as high as it goes so fewer people hit their head on it while it's up and they are loading or unloading their car. I figured this out when my 10-year-old left it in a place where he could reach it (about half way up) and I smashed my face into it. Now I make him let it go all the way up, and he climbs in to grab it to close it.

I'd appreciate some sort of hatch-opeing feature. Doesn't have to be a pedal, but something.

There's been several comments to this effect, and all I can't understand is the comments, lol. Airplanes sit out in the open. The cars are transported to the airport on some sorta carrier, then driven across the tarmac and loaded. And it was raining at the time.

he doesn't want it to go as high, so it won't hit his garage door. the spoiler is the spoiler.

We've got no kids at home to blame it on. What is it now, three times I've done it?

That likely only produces minor scratches as the closing arm pushes the spoiler out of the way.
It really starts to get interesting when you remotely open the garage door after closing it with the hatch up.
The pros however back out of the garage with the hatch up for a really thorough job.
Don't ask how I know this!
