I'm surprised they haven't ported over "Send to Car" from Lexus Enform. It's easier to look it up on the phone or at home so why not send it to the car. It's been available for PNDs since the early years (At least for TomTom and Garmin).

True, though I tend to input flight plans to the FMC manually, not rely on controller-pilot datalink loading...

That only works if the system is speedy ;).

Ever tried scrolling through the menu by holding the "Down" arrow on the Denso unit? There's a pause after each page. It takes forever to find something in the middle of the alphabet. It's odd that Toyota doesn't offer the same ability to jump to a letter like it does with the phone book.

I haven't noticed a lag, not to say that I use it much. Your smartphone is your friend.

    Destination Search

Another Entune update... Another Toyota GUI embarrassment.

I tried about 10 times and couldn't get a single correct voice transcription.

Did you try saying the address first before the city and state?

I did try address first and it was partially successful, but the recognition was slightly better with wide-to-narrow search. In both cases the results were not accurate. When I have some time I'll experiment with different methods to see what works best.

Wonder if this is a case of voice to text "upgrade" failure? It's 100% accurate on the native 2012 v Five.

I think Destination Search much much worse than Bing. At least with Bing, I could easily find current up to date listings for business, etc. Destination Search, when it works, comes up with outdated information, like stores that have gone out of business long ago, etc (maybe this is because it looks at your current navigation database?). Also, the keywords need to match the navigation database. For Example, I was looking for Southern California Logistics Airport, and could not find it unless I said Southern Calif Logistics Airport. I never had this issue with bing. This Destination Search feature is so bad...what was Toyota thinking? I hope they bring back a real time internet based search again like bing or google. It would be okay if they had both Destination Search and a real time internet search likie bing, but Destination search as a stand alone product is just plain stupid and useless.

So I finally got around to setting everything up to get the vehicle entune code update via my Android smart phone running its Entune (updated via Google play) and connected to the vehicle. When I pressed the apps button on head unit it checked for updates and I confirmed that I wanted to upgrade the vehicle Entune software. A couple minutes later I was running version 1.4.300044 on my 2012 Prius v with Adv. Tech. Pkg. To check version on a Prius with Adv.Tech Pkg. press the Toyota icon in upper left corner after pressing the Apps button. It will be a different version on a Display Audio, non Adv. Tech Pkg. Prius.

My experience with the Destination Search was ok. The voice recognition found 5 frequent business destinations in 6 tries. Note that I was parked in the garage, smartphone still connected to house WiFi, no ICE running and I had to turn the fan off. I was happy to see a Show on Map option on the vehicle Destination Search that I wanted but was missing on the smart phone Destination Search. On the smart phone after you touch/select a POI or address there was a Call and Save option that I was happy to find even if I might never use them.

Next time I will test while driving, smartphone using cellular, and entering street addresses.
