Very true, and you could be correct, but I think the video I posted was probably not a fake. I think it would be fairly easy for an electronics person to build a key fob signal booster.

For me, it's no big deal putting my key fob in a bag before I go to bed for the night.

Most people probably don't need to worry about this. Doors can be opened by many means. If they want in, they are getting in.

Though not the same thing we are talking about, the following article is about a disc jockey sending out a signal that jammed key fobs outside of a bar.

Radio Expert Unlocks Malfunctioning Key-Fob Mystery | Vehicles & Technology content from WardsAuto

Frequencies 315 MHz and 434 MHz are used for key fobs. I think It would be fairly easy to receive a very weak key fob signal and boost it so the car thinks the key fob is within a few feet. But, I'm no electrical engineer.

In the Air Force we used airborne aircraft to boost weak communication signals and transmit them around the world. Several aircraft flying at 35,000 feet spaced several 100 miles apart keep retransmitting the signal to its intended receiver.

My wife has only driven the Prius a few times. I just learned she thought the car locks its self when she walks away. I reminded her about the outside handle lock "button"..

Tested the ESD bags from work and this do not work for the intended purpose of RF shielding.
    Good by free "swag" .....

That's very interesting. The product listing for the faraday bag shows: "Base layer: silver (top) /copper/nickel (bottom) coated poly fabric."

Your ESD bags must be different.

    Thanks for the report.

    Cheers!
