After I sorted out suspension, OEMs FuelMax'es are actually not that bad. What kills them that they have a pretty stiff belt setup, so if tire isn't 100% square, they loose traction fast.

They still suck in wet, but orenji is in SoCal, it never rains there.. Plus he is on Bstones EL400? that tire got even worse review than FuelMax.

That explains it. My first thought was alignment issues?

If you live in desert don't bother B temperature rated tires

There wasn't uneven wear apparent, though. And I didn't notice any particular directional tendency of the vehicle when using the no-hands technique. ;) I am not even sure about the temp rating on the new tires. It's the Energy Saver A/S model. I've gone about 10500 miles on them so far.

Energy savers are B temperature rated as well. Have them on Gen3 for last 150k and love them.

What is interesting about them their soft sidewalls make them very forgiving to small misalignment issues. Many LRR tires gone in opposite direction; hard sidewalls as a means to reduce heat.

It could be you're getting better life out of them because they don't heat as much or they are more forgiving to small misalignment.

BTW car will only pull if you have cross-toe or cross-camber issues. 1/16" toe difference will not put alignment out of spec but still have impact on wear and MPG

Useful info, thanks. 30k miles of usage will tell the tale comparison-wise.

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to have alignment checked after 3+ years as well. After a couple of potholes, curbs, and many driveway drainage ditches, there's bound to be some deviation from center.

I had mine checked at 5k service and both fronts had 0.5" toe-in. When they fixed it to something less than 0.1" MPG went up by 3-5MPG.

Thing is with 5k rotations I don't think it would have shown that badly on wear.

Is the Michelin Energy Saver A/S worth $100 over the Bridgestone Ecopia 422 Plus? It's about time to replace my Bridgestone Ecopia 422 Plus at 62k miles.

Costco in my area seems to carry (or special order) the Michelin Energy Saver, but not the Michelin Energy Saver A/S in 175/65/R15.

IMHO none of them neither Ecopia nor Energy Saver worth premium over General RT43. You won't break even at least until gas is up to $4/gal.

RT43s are very good, cheap and roll very well for non-LRR labeled tire.

When our FuelMax'es are worn out I will replace them with 185/60R15 or 195/60R15.

I have 70,300 miles on my OEM tires. I think I can get 5-10k more but need to start thinking about it soon.

Wow... I made it 65k on mine. I could probably have made it another 5k, but I had a trip to take in the winter. Didn't want to be driving through snow and ice on baldish tires.
