First off, let me say I am EXCITED to join this forum, as I am getting my 2015 Prius IV very soon...YAAY!

I had a question to ask, and maybe not many on this forum would have an opinion, but here goes:

My company (a startup with myself and my wife) is a 3D printing company focused on education.

We have a pair of $20,000 3D scanners that are used to create detailed 3D models.

    Here is my question:

I will soon own a 2015 Prius IV, and I will therefore have easy access to scanning various parts of the car, for others to take those scans to do cool things with. Would anyone find those scans useful?

For example, I could scan parts of the dash, or cup-holders, or trunk, people could use that "template" to create dimensionally accurate "whatevers" to make the car better.

Since I will be getting the car in a day or few, I don't really know any pain points that people have, that 3D printing might fix...ideas?

    Thanks,

    Nick

(Here is an example of a cupholder I did for a friend's BMW, they they wanted to modify to hold something other than a cup: https : //skfb.ly/ESHM )

(Note: Since I am new, the board will not let me put a link in, so edit the one above to make it work :)

Ah...I am not saying that I would re-create those pieces...but rather use them as a template to create other pieces. That sort of use is covered under existing IP law. People all over the place use 3D scanning to make custom floormats, for example with no lawsuits.

What model/brand are your 3D scanners?
