    I got everything from ebay.

Just search for 3mm 5x100 spacers.

Then search for 56.1mm to 54.1mm hub centric rings. only one supplier/seller sells them from what I can find. i think they're called centricrings or something like that. it's from slovakia. im hoping they ship in a reasonable amount of time. i can't wait. i already steamed my wheels and double waxed them!

As far as I can tell, here is everything you'll need to safely install FRS wheels:

    M12x1.5 acorn style lug nuts

    eBay Hub Centric Rings

    56.1mm 3mm spacers Aluminum Billet

And here's what I used to steam clean and wax the wheels while I wait for my hardware. What else am I going to do? First I steam cleaned them stripping away all dirt, dust, grease, and brake dust. The heat plus the water strips away everything so you have a clean base layer to work with. I suppose you could just use soap and water as well. But I love this steam cleaner because it cuts dirt and grease without chemicals and is great for cleaning anything including around the house. Get dirt on your interior/carpeting? Steam it out. Easy. And I have two layers of this wax on my Prius and it beads like crazy. By far my favorite wax. Been using it on my BMW and it's extremely durable. Lasts up to two years while most waxes require re-application every 3 months.

    JayLn,
Go back through this thread. There are pictures.
I also had to modify the stock plastic center caps.
It may be easier to use 3mm spacers.
Just don't skip the hubcentric rings. They center the wheel on the hub before the lugs get tightened.
I'm not sure how well the rings engage the hub center if the wheel is spaced out 3mm.

Update: Installed the FRS wheels. I'll get high quality shots later but as for now here they are:

    ps.jpg

I'm using 3mm spacers with no hubcentric rings. (I do have them coming in the mail though and will throw them on just cause I bought them) but as of now NO vibrations. Perfectly smooth. Even up to 70 mph. This was done at my own will. How you install your wheels is up to you. As long as you use careful technique (super enthusiast) and are careful to center and jiggle the wheel as you lightly tighten lug nuts on opposing sides little by little, the wheel will center itself. Final torque to 78 ft-lbs. Will re-torque tonight and check in a week and then a week after that.

As of now I do not know what to do for center caps. I need a cheap solution. OEM FRS/BRZ caps are $80-130 a set. no thanks. Not spending $80 on a set of japanese car commuter caps. BMW caps are much larger and higher quality, thicker, nicer materials and they don't even cost that much.

If anyone knows of an aftermarket or cheaper solution for 49mm caps, I'm all ears. They make them for our stock Prius wheels but not for these. Go figure. I'm willing to pay up to $30 for a set of caps. No more. The front axle shaft sticks out a bit so not sure if caps would fit anyway.

As far as fuel economy, I do notice a small decline. My usual commute to work is from 49 to 53mpg. Today I got 48.9 driving really conservatively. It's fine. At the end of the day, I'm still well into the 40s.

BTW 3mm spacers are cutting it REALLY close to the caliper. I don't want to know what happens if I take a corner hard. Wheels flex and things expand. I'd feel safer with 5mm but I think I'd need to get extended studs then. I think it should be fine..

I'm in the same boat as you. I just got the FRS wheels and ordered the 3mm spacers and centric rings as well. I'm mounting the wheels on the car now also before the rings come in. I was concerned if 3mm would cut it close too but if its that close, I'll just shave off a little for a little more clearance. It shouldn't touch the caliper at all even on hard cornering, unless the aluminum used on our spacers are cheap quality and ends up warping but I guess I'll take my chances with shaving a little off the caliper. I debated on doing the extended studs too. I've been putting those on all my race cars and I just don't want to get that deep into doing more things to the Prius. lol. I think the 3mm spacer is good enough.

Same here. I've done enough modding to my BMW and the whole reason I got the Prius was to not worry about messing with it... so much for that. But I'm convinced I'll stop at the wheels =)

With 3mm, you won't need to shave anything. It'll be fine. What are you doing for tires? I'll try to get some good pics up this weekend. It rained yesterday and car got dirty..

Still debating on what tires to get. Came w/ 4 generic UHP branded tires. 2 fronts new, 2 rears worn. Might get 2 new generic tires and save money (eco route) or buy all four brand new generic 205-50-17 (the size i want)

So far taking corners even at reasonable speeds is much more secure. The car would easily squeal on 195s when doing simple things like getting on/off the freeway.

Did you receive any caps with your wheels? I received Subaru caps and I just plasti-dipped them black.

I've had 3mm's on for 2 years with no problem.

That's good to know. I'm still a bit nervous because of the difference in bore size but I'm sure that's just all in my head. I'd be more comfortable with a tighter fit at the bore. but your post makes me feel better.

No caps. I really want to find a set of cheap generic caps and paint them black. For now the only option seems to be OEM caps which are expensive.

I found a set of chrome caps (they claim to be OEM) for $45 shipped. if anyone has any affordable ideas, please share.

Good to know on the 3mms as well. And the plastidip is a good option too. Maybe not plastidip black, but silver? just to make them match to rest of the wheel color.

Uggh I have too many projects/cars to work on. lol. I'm actually doing the FRS setup to my wife's Prius. The tires on it still have about 90% but I may have to change one since it has a knick on the sidewall. I'll keep the OEM Michelins on it for now.

On my Prius, I have Enkei PF01 17x7.5 that I have set aside. Haven't chosen tires for this yet but I'm leaning towards the 215/45/17 Michelins as well. I'm open to others if it keeps the same gas mileage and longevity as the OEM ones. Also, just waiting to decide on the suspension I want to get. I wouldn't have minded years ago if the ride is crappy but now Im more picky on which to use and I'm torn on what to get. I'll probably start putting mine together in a couple months.

I also have a turbo CRX i'm finishing up and a drag turbo civic thats on my mind. Race season started again so my focus is back on the upcoming events and the drag car. I tried to limit what I would do to the Prius but as a car guy once you do wheels, you gotta slam it a bit to match it up. haha. I know it'll just be suspension, wheels and redo the speakers... THATS IT! :)

Yesterday I did a 60 mile trip, mostly highway, and got 57.8 mpg according to the readout. AC and stereo (with amp) blasting. haha. This is on cheap partially worn chinese generic 215/45/17 tires. I will get some quality rubber on here soon. Hopefully LRR. If I can snag a deal.

Finally took some shots. I decided on non-LRR tires as they were cheaper and there's a rebate going on. Total OTD for the tires, including the rebate was $440 installed. I got the Hankook S1 Noble in 205-50-17. They look and ride fantastic. Hankook is OEM on many cars nowadays I've noticed and I've had nothing but great experiences in the past with Hankook. So I decided to give them a try. I have no problem getting 50+mpg indicated around town on these. I have a set of GT86 center caps coming. Decided I have no choice if I want center caps. They were a bit pricy but I bit the bullet. 4thst-14.jpg 4thst-13.jpg 4thst-12.jpg IMG_8125.jpg

Looks good, other than the wheel gap. ;)

FYI, indicated mpg can be up to 5 mpg optimistic.

I'm fine with the wheel gap. I bought this car to do stuff in.

For my fun car, I drive a modified BMW 3-Series. ;)

I'm more than familiar with indicated mpg. This is my 12th car.

BTW, in my particular car, the two times I've measured indicated vs. calculated, indicated was actually 1 mpg lower. FWIW.

Regardless, indicated or calculated doesn't mean jack when you are comparing relative difference. As long as the numbers you are comparing are calculated using the same method. At the end of the day, I'm still in the upper 40s. Good enough for me.

The 205/50 looks pretty good. I'll consider that size when I get new tires on the FRS set. Keep us updated on the MPG results with those Hankooks

Thanks! I do love the way they look. When I get my center caps, I'll try to do a beauty shot of the wheel/ tire =D.

Today on my way to work I got 51.8 mpg indicated. I usually get around the same number with the stock 15s. I'm sure I took somewhat of a hit but 50+ is still doable on 17" non-LRR tires =)

At high speeds, 70-75+ i'd probably take a bigger aero hit due to the design of the FRS wheels (compared to stock) but for MPG, you shouldn't be going that fast anyway!

AFAIK, the FRS wheel weighs 20 lbs and these Hankooks are the lightest 205s I could find at 19 lbs. So 39 lbs vs the stock 34 lbs (16 lbs for the stock Prius 15" wheel and 18 lbs for the Yoko S33Ds.) Not a super huge weight penalty considering the traction advantages and better looks. I'm certain the Prius Five wheels and standard 245 tire is a heavier combo.

    To clarify the weight:

    OE FRS 17x7: 20 lbs.
    Hankook S1 Noble 2 205/50/17: 19 lbs
    Total: 39 lbs

    OE Prius 15: 16 lbs
    Yokohama Avid S33D 195/65/15: 18 lbs
    Total: 34 lbs
