TRS Morimoto Elite H11 HID kit issue

    If I go with the LED bulbs I linked earlier will I run into the same issue?

    Dude, forget about the LEDs. They're not worth it. Install a good HID harness, you'll be glad you did.

    I read an old post that you had and just wanted to ask if you still feel the same, how have these bulbs worked for you?

    "Don't waste your money, all the light goes out to the sides. All eight LEDs, even with the so called "enhanced" dispersion angle, still project none of the light out the front, where the light is needed, and can be focused properly by the projector lens. Also that color change feature by changing out the housing looks silly, it's just a filter that will decrease the amount of light transmitted just for looks.

    If you want more light, do the H9 bulb upgrade (link in my signature below). Quality Philips or Osram bulbs cost about $20 per pair and you get about 50% more light than using the standard H11 bulbs."

    I have the TRS kit 35W but with standard size ballasts not mini. I have a feeling that the mini ones are less reliable. I had an issue where one light wouldnt light 100% of the time. I called them and they said I needed new bulbs. So I put them in and it was fine. Once in a while, I'll have one that fails to light, but a quick flip off and on of the light switch fixes it. HID don't like to be turned on and off a lot with short runtimes (ie short trips with a few errands, where the headlights go off when you lock the car and on when you start it)

    I still have H9 bulbs in the Prius, I have 35w HID in my Camry. The Prius has been trouble free using the H9 upgrade for over 18 months now.

    It's a good upgrade, about 50% more light. But not as bright as HID for sure.

    If I wanted to stick with h11 what Osram Philips bulb should I go with?

    I don't know why you are resistant to installing a relay harness. I understand that you are frustrated at this point, but you are close to getting a reliable installation.

    Someone on the forum recommended these H11 bulbs:



    They will be brighter than standard H11 bulbs, but shorter lifespan. Also, they are almost 2x the cost of the Philips H9 bulbs.

    Perfect that is just what I was looking for I think. Would you agree that is the best output and quality for the H 11 bulb that you have found so far?

    Just comparing specs for now. I like a slight hint of blue. The only thing that worries me is bulb life.

    From the reviews some say that the Philips Crystal Vision 4300k omits yellow light like the oem bulb. It also has a very short bulb life. Interesting. So far I agree with you the Osram Night Breakers are the ideal choice. They might not have the "HID" look but the output is fantastic.

    I have the same issue.
    The passenger one will only come only after a second or third try to turn the lights on.

    TRS said they would replace it but it started to behave and work more regularly.
    Now it's back to not always coming on so, I now check the reflection in the cars in front of me to ensure that both lights are on.

    I need to flip the mini ballast to see if it follows the ballast as the issue but it's so tied down that I never remember to undo all that work I did to mount it securely.

    TRS kit 35w with the 5k color bulbs.

    So you guys aren't using HID relays to bypass the oem wiring?

    Maybe, as someone surmised above, that there is a problem with the Morimoto mini ballasts getting adequate power?

    My HID installation on my Camry has a dual relay setup that takes power directly from the positive terminal on the 12v battery. I can start my HIDs (regular, non-slim ballasts) when the ignition is not on at 12.7v system voltage with no problem, because there's plenty of current (amps) available to the ballasts.

    I was specifically told by TRS to use the Canbus relay as I mentioned previously. I am going with their instructions not my own. Come to find out that's the wrong relay for my setup. It's returned now so it's old news. It's shocking that more members are having the same issue as me though. Tells me something...
