Glad I'm not a real Prius owner...even though I own two. Anyone hungry?

The odds are good you would lose your bet. You'd have been more accurate to stop your post immediately prior to the first "and".

I just turned 61 last month, I own two Prii and a LEAF. Just upgraded the '04 Prius to a '12. I grill beef short ribs, steak and T-bones regularly and love 'em (I DO avoid pork though). Fish, chicken, and veggies are high on the list too.

Dad will be 86 in January and eats plenty of red meat. He just traded in his '07 Prius for a 2015 LEAF. His wife traded in an Explorer for a 2015 Prius. They own an RV and take at least two 4-6 week cross country trips per year.

Grandpa lived to 85 YO, but passed before the first Prius was made. He and grandma owned a pick-up camper and used it regularly until their early 80s. They liked red meat too.

The leading cause of death in the USA is CHD (coronary heart disease). Check out the amazing difference in the CHD death rate due between the USA and the people of Okinawa who's diet lacks red meat: The Okinawa Centenarian Study: health, diet & aging research (see bottom table)

The younger generations of Okinawan's are showing rising rates in CHD due to adopting a more western diet as corporate franchises have moved in. The same thing has been found in China.

While I am on record as saying I would not want to eat a burger with the bun dyed a Halloween Black, I will admit that every time McDonalds releases the McRib, I find myself buying several for it's "Limited Time Only" appearance.

And if we are talking about artificially processed food "stuff" that is simply an illusion?

The McRib has to be mentioned. This is "something" compressed and shaped to look like ribs? And the whole thing is smothered in a salty/sweet barbeque sauce.

I'll eat em. But I can literally feel them subtracting potential days from my life. But that's the deal I made with Cheese in a Can and The McRib. I will occasionally eat things I KNOW aren't going to be featured in the Health Food Magazine. Life's too short, and on one hand, I'm lucky to NOT be going to bed hungry regardless of the color of my defecation or my love of the McRib.

The odds of winning at Russian Roulette are 5 out of 6. Humans consuming meat run better odds when they are young, and lesser odds the older they get. The only way to really win at Russian Roulette is to not play.

Biology is really complicated, and meat is just one aspect that impacts total health. But as fotomoto points out, meat consumption has been identified as being associated with shorter life. Red meat overloads the body with iron (give blood!), but all meats concentrate toxins. It's just a thing that some of us have figured out is an unnecessary burden.

Good to hear some point of views outside the meat lobbyist on here.
As I stated early on, I eat chicken, and sometimes bacon, but bacon , is here and there.
Try to eat more antibiotic free chicken.
But Fotomoto said , the heart is nothing to be dumb( WOOPS, I said that)about, hauled off a neighbor on the roll back last night, he's under 50, after they open him up and do the quotrupple bypass, bet the doc will tell him not to eat cow pies anymore. Hotdogs are bad too, you really have to like some of the unknown parts of livestock to enjoy a good foot long. Just think when your 6 feet under or in a urn at a early age. You want be enjoying those burger cookouts with the slimy slabs of mad cow anymore.
Frog u and your family are an exception to the rule, statistics proves you wrong about the masses.
    VERY WRONG. ;););););););

Some may same I'm a bully, but I just have an opinion , like others.
I may point some fingers, but I'm not going berserk, like a few of you pro meat eaters .

    Good point Bisco.
Sort like guns and politics or are they the same. Depends on who you ask.

This part does not apply to you Bisco

As far as the meat consumption goes and coronary issues.
History shows in the US, we are mostly doomed at a earlier than average age, if we eat too much high on the hog. Steak does not equate to wealth or good living. It equates to ignorance ( when I say eating steak, I m saying over consumption of meats and red meats in general)
That all I have to say.
Please don't adjust your sets, hehehehehe

    OP Again:

And wondering what I unleashed on the forum. LOL!

Anyway, I should know better. But, I think genetics and actual "work performed" have a great deal to do with all this.

Not scientific, of course, but my parents were farmers. Ate and saved bacon grease. Lots of fresh off the farm red meat and vegetables. Were up at 4 a.m. each day, worked hard on the farm, lived into their 90's and not walker/oxygen/wheelchair lived. Working on the farm, in the barn lived.

My wife parent's much the same....just saying....I think there is a big difference between "factory meat," and the stuff you get from your happy steers on the back forty....

Anyway, again, surprised where this thread ended up...

Good point Steve, good for your family.
Let me really make my point clear.
We are talking mainly of what the larger percentage of meat eaters in this country eat. from the factory's , like you said. That's what is filling up the hospitals in this country . Overweight is killing folks too.
Most people in this country watch too many Hardee's commercials, and eat a lot of fabricated crap in a box.

No worries. The OP is really about marketing more man made (unnatural) crap and is worthy of commenting on. I don't usually participate in FHOP threads.

Exactly. I could counterpoint your anecdotal evidence with my maternal grandparents that also lived their entire lives on the farm, butchered their own cows and chickens, and died at 63 and 59. Large scale data, like I linked earlier, is best.
