Tein street flex Z

    Anyone on street flex Z care to share some review?

    I'm currently on Tanabe Sustec pro S0c, quite disappointed by it. The dampers are too soft, I'm hitting bump stop almost all the time. It happens even after adjusting the ride height higher.

    Just changed my coilover from Tanabe sustec pro s0c toTein Street Flex Z. A HELL to HEAVEN experience...

    The tanabe have preload and shock travel tie together, the lower you go, the lesser travel it gets, to make matter worst, the spring rate for the car is too low, the damperdoesn't have any adjustment and is way too soft which cost the shock to hit bump stop at almost every imperfection on the road.

    For Tein street flex z, the price is very reasonable to start with, shock is of a good quality. Way better than the tanabe that i have own. Shock travel is independent of the ride height and preload, you can really slam your ride. 28 level of setting for damping. Much stiffer than the tanabes if goes to hard setting, ride like a lexus if really go into soft setting. Never experienced a single bump stop hit on those road that I usually travel. Thumbs up forTein Street Flex z!

    I had Tien High Tech on my 2012. They rode smooth. Not sure about the Flex line, but overall I was happy. Never bottomed out over speed bumps or had a harsh ride.

    Overall I was happy with Tien. I did get a little squeeking on the front right after two years, probably just needed cleaning but sold it before I had a real chance to confirm.

    This is good to hear. I'm thinking of getting coilovers whenever my stock shocks eventually give out.

    Yea I was on the bridge but most likely getting the flex for my c. My friend that owns a shop wants me to air ride my car but money wise I rather not even tho I'll be the only one in my location with it.

    My aim was a bit of both. My state we have a extra inspection for modified cars (the state wants extra money) but I noticed the car feels a bit uneven taking turns. So I want to drop it a bit and make that feel better

    What's the estimated lifespan on these coilovers? I'm on Tanabe lowering springs with stock shocks, and my brother and boyfriend insist that my shocks need to be replaced. (Both drive WRX / STI with coilovers...) I'm at 60k miles and just replaced my tires. I do almost all highway miles, but I do not drive this car like it's a Prius. I did rotors and pads around 50k miles. I was thinking to do coilovers around 75k miles, which I'll be at in a little less than a year, but I'm wondering whether I really need shocks right now.

    I may have to go drive a stock C and see how different it feels. I don't think my car rides rough at all. My last vehicle was a Highlander, so that's not a comparison, but I had a lowered IS300 before that. I am used to a rougher ride and don't know how to tell the difference between a car that is just lowered and therefore rougher versus legitimately needing my shocks replaced...

    In that case, coilovers in general are going to be a better choice than air. Most air systems prioritize aesthetics to the near exclusion of functional improvements in handling.

    The uneven bit, are you referring to body roll? Or are you referring to the rear when going over uneven roads?

    Coilover lifespan will depend heavily on the quality of the dampers, the type of driving you do, the roads, and to some extent the climate/salt usage. If you don't track, expect 50k-100k+ kms (roughly 30k-60k+ miles).

    You can tell a damper is worn out if it oscillates after bumps/dips. It'll bounce up & down several times before settling when you go over road irregularities.

    I talked to the reps for tein. Unless you picked it up from eBay. Your wait will be till this winter or spring next year. I was going to pick up a set but was world wide sold out on all models of the flex. They are completely backed ordered so bad the chances of getting it straight from tein by the winter was 40%.

    Did you do the install yourself? My brother will be installing mine. He's done coilovers several times before, just not on a Prius. Haha. Was there anything unique about the install?
