2015 Prius suddenly stopped chirping on lock and courtesy lights no longer work.

Our 2015 Prius 4 with 8,900 miles just suddenly stopped chirping and turning the lights off upon locking. The courtesy lights also no longer work (the lights worked last night as I approached the car but not tonight. The locking chirp/beep worked 3 hours ago but not now. Also headlights no longer go out after double clicking lock on either of the 2 fob.)

Is this something I can resolve on my own or do I need to take the 30 mile trek to the dealership to see if they can squeeze me in?

I would check your remote key first. If you have two sets, try using your other one and see if it makes a difference. If it does, then you may have an issue with the one you use all the time. If not, it may be as simple as a "system reset". If for some reason one of the buttons was pushed on for a long period of time, or water got on it, etc, this may be the issue. Of course, I am just guessing and I hope this is helpful.

This is with both key FOBs. It only locks but doesn't turn off headlights and then when approaching with either key fob it does not light up the interior courtesy lights. Was just at dealers 2 weeks ago to get my 5000 mile service done (was at 6100 miles then) and at that time they checked to make sure all system firmware was up to date.

Ok. Oddly enough the courtesy lights now work again.

Maybe email the service manager? Just to get on record.

Unfortunately we just moved here and I haven't been able to build a relationship with service department here like I did in Florida. (Just shoot a text to my service manager and he tells me when to bring in that day or next)

I'll just chance it and take both cars in case I need to leave it there.

Ok. A little update. Called dealership and got appointment for tomorrow morning at 10 am. Got ready to go in town And when I got out at the bank and hit lock the car beeped at me. Soooo, it fixed itself apparently.

Chalk up one more to weird automotive behavior and my luck.

My 2015 has done some weird random strange things at times. Not unlocking/locking, and one time the car even failed to turn off despite repeatedly hitting the start/stop button. I had to play with the car for a minute to finally get it to shut off. It seems the car gets confused when you make it do too many things in too short amount of time. It gets frustrated and just stops responding. It doesn't happen enough for me to take it in though. I hate wasting my time. They'll just say they couldn't replicate the problem.

That's my thought regarding Original Poster's pending dealership visit. Frustrating.

For the OP's problem, make sure you keep your fob and your cellphone separate from each other. The cellphone can interfere with the fob's RF communication with the car.

That could explain the intermittent problems you had with the vehicle not detecting the fob's proximity to the vehicle.

They have tried that on me several times with our 2012. I just tell them to keep trying considering it's been doing it for x amount of time. Tell them "I can wait. I scheduled the whole day free so I can sit here until it's fixed right."

They can probably outwait you. Just stock up on coffee and donuts, use their wifi like there's no tomorrow, make sure you get a free car wash, lol.

Thanks. The thing is, the car did detect the keys and I was able to lock and unlock using the handles. It just would not chirp to confirm that it locked. However it did for unlock with both fob and using the handle.

Have someone living with me that's retired. She'd be willing to go open to close every day until it's fixed right. Even has enough of a sense of humor she'd set her dentures in a plastic cup on the table while waiting while playing games on her phone. Lol.
