Change rotors , pads and calipers and I still get a vibration when I hit the brakes slowing down on the highway.

I also have a load squeal when I first hit the brakes in the morning. It sounds like metal on metal but it is not.
All this started when I change the brake pads.
Any help and advice would be very helpful.

    Thanks in Advance

So you changed the pads but not the rotors and it didn't work, so you changed the rotors but the pads were already used, the old rotors destroyed them, so you changed the calipers, but still had pads riding on used rotors, good quiz?
Anyway, did you properly torque the rotors into place, or did they warp at heat because they were loose?

Have you try switching the tire/wheels front to rear?

Have you checked to see if the backing plate could be bent, rubbing against the wheel? It can be bent back if needed.

    Hi aperry,

It's never too late to go back and follow the service manual step by step, including measuring the rotor runout when you reassemble. They suggest testing at each of the four ways the rotor can go on and you'd be surprised how much difference that can make.

Lucifer, of course, is just testing to see how gullible you are, there is nothing you do to "torque the rotors into place", the wheels hold them on. I sort of wish people wouldn't do stuff like that, it's enough fun to solve real problems when everybody's genuinely out to help.

Maybe you can post again after measuring the runout?

Just a thought: is it drum brakes in the rear? They tend to be pretty uneventful, but who knows.

Thanks Chap I will check it out and post the results. The weird part is the steering wheel does not shake it acts like when you are on a slippery road and hit the brakes the system vibrates.

Have you got a dial gage? And/or micrometer? You can check out the trueness and thickness of the rotors.

This is for 3rd gen, but maybe the tolerances are similar:

Wait, so you mean the rapid pulsation, as if the antilock is kicking in?

I wonder what would happen if you force non-ABS braking (pull one of the ABS relays, unplug a wheel speed sensor, anything so the ABS will error out) ... under plain braking do you feel the vibration or not?

OK if it not mechanical , let try this! be safe! Pick a part of road where you can get to speed with no one around ! Turn off engine! Apply brakes! This would turn off power to the ABS and see problem exist? Roll off side of road and restart, use 4 way flasher ! Can't express being safe! Have a plan before you do this! This way you can rule out the abs system!

It is rapid pulsation but the you can feel the vibration badly also.
I will try pulling the abs fuse this weekend and see what it does.

I will try this and see what happens and let you know. Sounds kind of similar to what chap wants to do but don't have to pull a fuse....

Shut the car off while going 60 on a road and hit the brakes and still had the vibration.

Changed the brake pads and it worked... Thanks all for your advice!!!!

Right, new pads on old rotors, ded, but new pads on semi used rotors that haven't worn yet and yer good to go, are the rotors torqued properly?
