Just finished thorough inspection, oil/ filter change, ATF drain and fill, engine and inverter coolants changed, brake flush-clean-adjust-lube and F/R pads (rotors are good), new 12 VDC battery, spark plugs, struts/shocks/isolators, rotate-balance-alignment, engine and cabin filters, F/R wipers and updated Kenwood/Garmin software. It's what we call a "C-Check" in my business. Picking up snow tires/steel wheels/front chains c/o Tire Rack Denver warehouse when I get there next week in readiness for winter.

Anyways...car is handled until next 5,000 mile oil/filter and tire rotation.

    nice work!
    Moving to Denver, eh?
Unless you're in the Mountains, you probably won't need chains. Sun melts the snow within hours along the front range/denver proper.
it does, however, turn to ICE the second the sun goes down for the day!
My other car is a Subaru.....they're king out here (for a reason......never have I had that car get stuck, and I have been trying every year since purchasing it new in '05).

anyway - welcome to Denver. Look out for all the crazy drivers!

Thanks, rolling in Wednesday. Chains is just being prepared like a shovel, brush, scraper, alcohol solution, snacks, water...you know the drill. As far as crazy drivers go...that's a given everywhere.

You won't need chains. If the snow's that bad, your low sitting Prius won't get through it anyway.

Thanks. While your posted location implies you might know better than myself as it pertains, chains will be on-board. I have a special tool in my box that has only been used maybe a dozen times in my career, but when I need it...I really need it. ;)

crazy drivers.....it's weird here. I've lived in LOS ANGELES, CHICAGO, driven coast to coast....and the drivers here are the worst. It's because so many people are moving here, from all over the country (keeping the landlords and real estate agents filthy rich......).
Slow (stoned)....fast (drunk)...blowing red lights (Californians).....I've never had to be a more defensive driver in my entire life.

And yes - chains good for above 7K.

Not to side track my own thread, but the biggest problem I encountered relocating to Denver was finding a room for rent. Oh they're out there, but Colorado's new 4/20 friendly law "extremely" limited my search. I was successful however finding a place where they don't partake or tolerate.

I would never have thought of that. Good for you and congrats on getting there. I assume you didn't need the snow chains. :)

If you plan on driving around Colorado, you can easily get caught in a freak snow storm where you might need chains to get back home. In late 1970, I left Denver for Phoenix when it had just started to snow. They let us out of class early and little did I know I was on the leading edge of a major storm coming from the south. By the time I got to Trinidad, it was so bad I tried to find some chains. Having no luck, I reluctantly pressed on. At one point going up Raton Pass, a semi jackknifed and I had to stop on a hill. When it was clear, I couldn't get up the hill, so I had to back down to get a running start. Fortunately I was the only car behind the semi. I made it over the Pass just as the radio said they were closing I-25 on both sides of the Pass. I was driving down the middle of the freeway because I couldn't see the road and only had the raised shoulders to guide me. As it turned out, I was the only one from my class to make it out of Denver that day, airports were closed right after I left, etc. Once I got over the Pass, it cleared up and the roads cleared. I guess the storm had actually started right at the Pass and headed north. I had kept up with the storm's progress on the radio, so I knew I'd be clear if I could make it over the Pass. That was then, today I'd stay in Denver and try another day. :)

Between the two, I like Discount Tire, both stores I've used have been great to deal with.

Make sure you flush the bottom of the car and wheel wells weekly to get off all the road salt, so you car does not look like this!!
