okies last thing I hear is to get to starting point and dead silence after no warning turns are coming up nothing,
I have had my prius for a few months but I had to replace the touch glass before I could enter addresses, now that I have I'm just confused it shows a blue line, but no voice prompts after it telling me to get to a certain spot.
and it doesn't recalculate if I miss my turn. Honestly this is the worst POS I have ever seen. weird Maybe the gps is off just this little bit so it never shows me on the route, sometimes it does seem like I'm flying along side the freeway. Any hints for me?

The only thing I can think of is did you calibrate the new touch screen via the hidden menu on the MFD? I do not see why this should affect the GPS but it is a possibility if it was not done.

Have you pressed the Menu button and gone into Setup to check the options? I believe there is a setting to auto re-calculate route, as well as another for calibration (normally when changing tires, but might help).

Have you checked the Volume setting on the Nav, (Menu -> Volume) in case prompts are turned off?

Also, what version is your DVD?

Going by memory.... Hope that helps.

I checked all those settings, and there all checked it says you have arrived, but that's about all I know, just checked 86271-33040. Just D no U 2x so the original DVD from 11 years ago.
Anyone here have a newer DVD that you replaced to help me out I don't want to buy the newest one until I know it fixes my problem.

It sounds like your particular unit is broken if it will not re-calculate. The other complaints may be user error. Someone has already mentioned checking the AUDIO VOLUME.

I have an '04 level 9 model, which has all of the then-available options, which includes navigation. The system definitely recalculates as soon as you miss a turn. Furthermore, you can re-select the route at any time using PREVIOUS DESTINATIONS, 3 ROUTES, and then REPLACE to open up some recalculated options. Turn by-turn on the right hand side of the screen is one of about five to seven display options. Others include FULL SCREEN (map only) and Interstate Highway Exits (it shows them all, not just the one you want to exit at). I think one is a Direction-up map, where the car is always shown traveling UP; I keep my map on North-up, so this lets you see it from both perspectives. There may be a geodesic coordinates view also. These choices are obtained by an icon on the left side. I've missed some.

As far as the DVD goes, mine apparently had a problem early on, as it has the '05 map disk, a rather negligible update in 2015. I do not believe that replacing the disk would help in this case. Incidentally, on the subject of owning a 2004, the general thought is one should never buy the first year of a new model. For reasons of economy, I did so and have never been more pleased with a vehicle's reliability. I am at 293K miles and except for the dealer recall items, nothing has ever broken on this car, a first in my life. I just replaced the front disk pads 6000 miles ago so up until that point, I could say that the only wear items had been tires and wiper blades. Quite remarkable.

well the following I just found out when I did some checking in service mode, the following is happening on the check menu there is an "exch" under the nav and a chk under the audio and the dsp(whatever that is). in the lan monitor there seems to be a check under nav as well so maybe I got a solder problem.
as for the audio volume and menu settings I checked those and they seem fine.
also the gps on the display often shows me besides the road or on the sidewalk, I do not know if this is an antenna issue, I also dun know if this would cause the gps to not give directions . I wish I could find some more tutorials on where everything is located.
also quick question is the dvd unit under the seat also the actual gps unit, if so I might find a replacement, after I check the solder points looks like I'm tearing the MFD unit out again so I can re-solder the connector to see if that fixes things.
