Installed aftermarket radio. Now panel lights are stuck in "day" mode.

    I think I ran over a bump and something shorted out. Now the panel lights on the MFD Flicker on and off as if I was turning the headlights on and off ( the headlights remain on however) My cheap solution is just leave the dimmer switch in the all the way to the top position. MFD works. Everything else works. It's just the lights are weird on the MFD. Did the MFD cat fried or did something else get fried? Either way it should just be a salvage parts swap should I need to replace anything?

    could just be the dimmer switch.

    Aftermarket on the Gen III had the option to splice into the dimmer wire for the head unit. If yours was similar, check your splice.

    Where could I purchase a dimmer switch? And I am shocked that this incredibly complicated car electronics wise has such an evidently simple control system for the button lights on the mfd.

    Replaced the dimmer switch. No change. What else controls the dimmer circuit?

    bummer. if no one knows, i guess you'll have to go to toyota tech info and look at the schematic.
