Rats are really really smart. And they chew everything. I have put out traps and there's rat poop all around the traps as if to taunt me.
I once put traps all across the window sill outside. There was just tiny room between the traps and they pooped right there on the tiny space.
Amazing. Only way to trap a rat is in the attic where it is 100% dark and they stumble on it. Even the tiniest bit of light and they'll see it and avoid it.

In Florida we are plagued with fruit rats. They get pretty big. And there mission is to get in your attic and have babies. Just look around the property for rat shite. It has a tiny white spot on the end of every gift.

I can believe that a lot easier than rats. We've got zillions of those little guys running around. I once watched one battling a huge cockroach, who wound up being lizard food.

Hey Pat not sure about that as down here we have millions of lizards and we would be covered in that stuff. Plus its pretty big.

Maybe a gift from a snake, then...

All I know about FL is that there are more alligators around than I feel comfortable with...

Hah! You do have mice! Not that I'm a poop expert but I did have an old car that sat in the back of a HUGE garage for years. On the opposite side of that wall was a chicken pen. Upon inspecting the TRUNK of the old car... it was literally filled with rat poop, insulation, leaves, upholstery stuffing, etc. Rat poop is MUCH larger that your specimens. Time to set a trap and bait it with what they like - any type of seed. Use a "humane" trap which has a lid that opens up. You can either drown it or let it sit overnight. Mice die within 24 hrs.

No way. I'm a Victor man - the loud WHACK! when the trap closes, the brief writhing of the little body, and the sound of lots of other mice scurrying away in panic is music to my ears. But I'm more convinced it's lizards - anoles, I think - because of the tiny toothmarks. I'll see if there's an expert the Extension Service might be able to hook me up to.
