    hi all,
I got the below readings while driving in the ECO mode only (without pushing the EV button)
after the service when i break and re accelerate smoothly and softly from around around 15 kmph the real time mileage meter shows just 2 bars and then only goes up (in ECO mode and not ECO +EV combine)...
and during the EV + ECO changes to ECO only while slight accelerations (not heavy) the meter dropps to 10kmpl and the only picks up very slowly...before the service while doing so it was dropping around 15-20 kmpl..
they said they hv done a synthetic oil upgrade..
    my 215 45 r17 tyres pressure is Front 36 rear 34..
when i go to the dealer again what should i ask them to check for (they'd know but to insisit)
    tkank you

Maybe they used a thicker oil? And/or dropped your tire pressures?

thank you mendel...need to question about the viscosity of the oil they used...But the before service tyre pressure was (34 F 32 R) lower than the pressure i have set now (36F 34R)...so i assume its not caused by a pressure issue...

    a small clarification please
while driving in 60 kmph or so I took off my feet , changed the transmission to N position and felt a resistance (which was in the D mode)has disapeared and the car moved freely in N (so the parking breaks are not over tightened ...are they?.)...then i changed to D in the same speed...the next moment I changed to D I felt a big resistance...something like 1/2 of the B position...
is it normal to have so... I mean to have a resistance while from N to D that can be felt readily.....??
sorry for being such an amateur....

Switching from Neutral to Drive you will feel an increase in resistance. And see a little regen displaying.

It seems like your parking brake is ok, if it feels freewheeling in Neutral. You could double check by feeling the temperature of all wheels right after a drive. If any brake is dragging, it'd feel much warmer than the others. Slightly warm for all is ok.

I'm still betting it's a heavier oil grade.

    hello mendel...
Went to the lube station a while ago..
during the lube they did a mineral to synthetic oil (caltex) upgrade.....and the tech advisor said the grade of the synthetic oil they upgraded was 0W-20 (which is same as the previous mineral oil grade )...
will it make such a difference?
yet they are clueless about my complain....

I'm not sure there is any 0W-20 that is non-synthetic. And 0W-20 is the thinnest oil readily available, and the specified oil for Prius. Either they've done something else, say parking brake cable as you were wondering, or they're lying about the oil grade.

Oh: or they grossly overfilled the oil? did you check that? It's not that easy, I believe due to convoluted tube the dipstick is guided through.

Other than that I'm stumped, but if you're noticing the car being less free-rolling, right after the service, there would seem to be a connection.

thank you again for the concern
he said the amount was 4.0 litres...they also did a an oil filter change....if they are lying, going again to them is useless and idiotic i guess.......atm am getting a series of readings and manual calculations to get an actual overall best mpg I can get.....I will keep posted.....could you please suggest an oil (brand) and the exact amount in litres that has to be poured (with the filter) so that i can go for that the next time or if the low mpg annoys me...
    thank you again..

I'm always using Toyota brand 0w-20, 4.2 liters with filter change.

no issues.. mobil1 guarantees till 15k , around 12k you feel the car feeling heavy or dragging.. I get it changed.. the green hybrid formula is the best fluidity..

I put about 35k miles per year.. I'm at over 43k now.. the oil used by dealer is a mixed synthetic and regular oil and they use a $4 paper filter. no thanks. after mobil1 hybrid formula, there in no going back to any other oil.

would uber be considered 'severe duty'?
