you would still need to pass smog to sell it, it's the seller's responsibility to furnish the smog certificate

    mx-er,

I must say I never saw that coming! Surprised they didn't smash a window and literally rip the HV battery out of it, too. Dreaming of Californication...

What city did this happen in?

All good, if the buyer is aware in advance of this issue.

I need some help please , I have a 2008 prius and my hybrid battery when ignition is turned on all the warning lights come on and they hybrid battery mark purple on 1 line of charge I did a test on a scanner and all show 14.8 beside 1 showing 12.0 ... can this be the problem as to why it won't start? When I clear all the codes they immediately come right back

If that data is accurate, then you likely have a faulty high voltage battery. The battery pack would have to be disassembled, and inspected to confirm. It looks like one or both battery modules in block 14 are bad. (A wiring or battery ecu problem could be possible, but unlikely given the voltage reading).

If it is the battery, you can search the forum for replacement (or "repair") options.

although block 14 looks to have a bad cell/module, it should not prevent the car from starting. What codes are coming up? Did you mess with the orange interlock on the HV battery? Is your 12v battery good?
