It's kinda funny, our 2010 was built in Aug of 2009, and we bought it in Nov 2010, new, with about 10 km on the odometer. It was way at the back of a storage shed when we found it, all dusty, with a dead bird lying beside it. It cleaned up good. :)

actually - I was pretty impressed with the Rav4 hybrid. C&D has a first drive review on its website. (I wasn't overly impressed with the NX for the price)

Only $700 more than the regular rav. Has e-4wd.

Did you get impression that it might have been intended to be aluminum, but got downgraded to white plastic as a cost cutting?

Did they got rid of it b/c the place behind is used for something else (cabin filter)?

They would NEVER use aluminum for a console. Regardless the price.

This has been discussed at length. they removed it for aesthetic reasons. As much time as you spend here, you should know this by now.

It wasn't porcelain white, though. It was bright slivery with a subtle sparkle to it. Almost like snow. It looked very nice. Can't say the same about the stuff on the top of the dash or the seats.

i didnt mean in forums, but in articles... it was main point of every review and there was a ton of reviews so far.

what seats were they (cloth or leather?)? Was dash soft? They have two types of plastic based on model, hard and soft. Thats why everyone puts best model on the show and then you can buy cheap one if you want.

German manufacturers almost exclusivly put loaded cars in test fleets, and then you get to buy crappy one from the dealer because no way you can afford all the stuff they tested in the review.

I've seen a pic here, looked a bit but came up dry, think it was of the Eco underside rear suspension, where you can see a cam-like bolt and washer, with indentations around the washer, evidently for adjustment.

UK specs mention that base model does not have soft touch plastic, pretty sure I saw it mentioned in reviews as well.

Step up to Business Edition and you get soft-touch cabin trim...

Yep... but my point was that they are showing base cars on the shows, unlike literally everyone else in the industry.

how do you mean, by interior? A lot less tech in Rav4, pretty heavy, not great MPG, older hybrid system, older design that will be all-new in 2 years.

So that is why you commented on Aluminum trim pieces?? I see, very forthcoming

This is very consistent with overall industry Nov numbers, and far from FIAT/Chrysler gains, I would not read too much into it.

    lol... no.

Toyota had an awesome month, another month with sales bigger than Ford. Overall car sales were great, record month for the industry. Percentages have to be put into context - 2 working days less compared to 2014, so for instance Toyota had actual increase of 12.4% in DSR.

FCA increased less than TMC, and not only that but FCA is currently probably worst shape company that sells cars in the USA. Very low profits worlwdie despite record SUV sales, missing sales targets, new model deadlines, etc, etc.

seats were some kind of coarse chunky fabric. The dash was a very thin hard tan material that looked almost like it had a oriented strand board pattern moulded into it. It was thin and taut and sounded like a drum head when you tapped on it. This was a prototype car - presumably they'll put some resonance dampener on the real deal because this dash looks like a potential NVH amplifier.

It looked good until you touched it. Did I mention the white sparkly plastic looks and feels fantastic? They should have made the dash out of that!

I saw the Gen 4 Prius at the SF Show on Thanksgiving Day.

I liked the exterior changes but didn't like the white plastic center console liner. The sales person that I spoke with didn't know which models the white thing would be coming with and didn't know if it could be removed. Will have to wait until at least Jan (when he said they should be available) to find out about that.

I've owned 2 Priuses before -- a 2006 and 2010 -- and have been without one for a year or so. Have thought about buying another recently but didn't want to buy one that just looked like the others. So, the new Gen 4 at least reopens the possibility of my buying another.

    We'll see . . .

Thanks! Think I'll want something w/more options than just a Prius 2.

Heard mention in a video elsewhere that they may be offering a cover for those (like me) who don't like the look of the white trim. That would be fine if the cover looks ok. Otherwise, I'd probably remove all of the trim and repaint it a color that I'd prefer.

THAT would be a PITA and I shouldn't have to do that but it's certainly something that I could do if need be.
