I recently started up a modest hill in the snow. My '05 Prius started to lose traction and the ABS/VSC kicked in and killed the drive power. The drive then came back on and then off several times before quitting completely. The surface was slick. If I could have disabled the system, I could have driven through the situation. Is it possible to turn the system off?

    1. There are many posts about how to temporarily disengage the traction control. Also, the following webpage may be of interest:

    2. You are potentially risking damage to the transaxle by following this procedure, if you allow wheel slip to be excessive.
    3. If your car does not have a decent set of winter tires installed, it sounds like this is needed now.
