    Compare Side-by-Side



    If you want to compare cargo space with the rear seats down as Edmunds did, then the passenger space needs to be adjusted to match.
    The Leaf is 86cu.ft. passenger with the seats down, and the Note is 74.6cu.ft.

    The Camry sells more than the Corolla while costing more.

    Had you done that in the beginning, along equipping the cars the same, this discussion wouldn't be happening now.

    The Note is the Versa hatchback; it's official name is Versa Note.
    It doesn't have a separate listing on Fueleconomy.gov, because Nissan was able to use the same mpg rating for both. However, under the specs tab of the Versa listing there are separate passenger and cargo listings for the sedan and hatchback. While rounded, the EPA measurements for the volume are in line with Nissan's own for the Versa Sedan, Versa Note, and Leaf.

    I don't really know where this versa note stuff is going.

    The best selling vehicles are not the low tco ones. They are the F-series then silverado pick up.

    The best selling cars in the US this year are

    camry, corola, accord, altima, civic, fusion, elantra, cruze, focus, sonata, malibu.

    Yep 4 door sedans, with midsize selling better than the compacts. Most of these now have a hybrid version (corola not for sale in the US). sonata and fusion have (or will soon) a hybrid and plug-in version. Focus has no hybrid but a bev version. These are the market for cars where plug-ins can make inroads. IMHO there will be strong penetration this decade, as battery costs go down, and size gets smaller. We can expect batteries to be 36% smaller in 10 years, and a custom designed plug-in can package much better than the fusion or sonata.

    I think he is just arguing it for the sake of it, like proving that Leaf is fitting into more desirable "premium" category will make all problems disappear.He rejects the realityandsubstitutes it with own. And unfortunately EVs are the niche player and are far from mainstream due to technology limits.

    Yes, BEVs have limits.
    When a statement that the Leaf has a TCO equal to similar models, a comparison to a dissimilar model doesn't disprove that statement.

    actually I said price and TOC since most buyers don't even know what is it. Irregardless Austin thinks EVs are 10 years away I think they may be closer as short range with extender and 25+ away as pure electric but your guess is as good as anyone's else.

    10 years to the mainstream. There are 1 million plug-ins on the road right now. Sports sedans ware probably next with the model 3. I think 10 years until they are competing with a camry for that guy that just wants a good dependable car.

    We are on the cusp of multiple manufacturers putting out 200 mile / lower cost EV's. Game changer ? It's a "wait-&-see" as far as how popular they are - especially w/gas currently - artificially depressed. That can change at any moment with the terroristic launch of a missile or any of several other dynamics. Heck, even insufficient fed road tax props up F150 sales.

    There are so many advantages other than gas prices.
    I think these next gen EVs will do quite well, regardless of gas prices.
