2007 Prius - Brake, Brake warning (!) ABS and VSC lights ON

Id run it to them and let them look it over..not sure of their warrantee..

 

1. Make sure your dealer's svc dept will install parts you provide yourself. They may refuse to do so.
2. I suggest that you buy a used part based upon the part number because it is unclear whether an older part number or newer part number will be compatible with your skid control ECU. If you buy based upon part number then it doesn't matter what model year the part is coming out of.

 

around here an 07 is worth about 4 grand (look on craigs list) and Im not sure why you want to buy a used one from e bay when I gave you a local Prius repair shop that will supply it and put it in for much less with a warrantee....

I think i'm, experiencing the same issues. 2007 Prius with no brake assist at all, pretty hard to stop the car. Constant beep, multiple lights on the dash.

Are these symptoms for the ABS pump/actuator?

 

I am just updating this post as it was cross referenced from another post with similar information.

No need to feel like a fool, the correct part for the Gen 2 (2006-2009) is in fact the dealer quoted 44500-47141 so that will be why they insist it is the part number. It supersedes 44500-47140. It seems 44510-47050 is not in the database, if that is in fact the part number from the factory.

Shopping around online dealer parts counters you can find the new part for $1134.

I'd imagine the new part number will have been updated with the learnings from the recall, so I'd be wanting that part (new or secondhand) if I had to replace it.

 

Not everybody realizes that there are often xxxxx-yyyyy numbers stamped or printed on physical parts that are not the part number. They are not an old part number, or a factory part number, or a superseded part number, or any part number.

They can be an engineering number, or a producer's number on some subcomponent of the part that is never sold separately, but happens to have the number visible on the outside when the part is assembled.

So there is always confusion when people see those numbers on parts, and think they are looking at part numbers.

In some cases (Gen 3 brake actuators are an example I've noticed), the entry in Toyota's parts catalog (under the real part number) will also mention a "mark" number, which is the different number that you see on the part when you look.

 

I am aware of that and did think of it, but the catalog made no mention of a "mark" number for this part.

You are right though, it is something to know and be aware of.

 

Yeah, the cases where anything in the catalog even mentions the visible mark numbers at all seem to be rare exceptions. Gen 3 actuators might be the only example I know of.

But the existence of visible numbers on parts that are not the part number is not rare at all. Lots of parts have them, so in most cases you just won't see any mention of that number in the catalog at all.

I first noticed the numbers-that-aren't-part-numbers phenomenon with an old Ford I had. Ford numbers look more like annb-nnnnn-c and, sure enough, they too could have numbers on a part that would look just like that, but wouldn't be the part number.

We had a Ford dealer here whose parts counter was open to midnight at the time, and the guy who was best at looking up old parts was the one who worked that shift. So I made lots of late-night runs to the parts counter. I would walk up with a part in my hand, and be like, "so this number right here isn't the one you need?" and he would sigh, and shake his head, and go in back and come out with a box of microfiche, and spend ten minutes figuring out what part it was.

 

Hello all,
I'm see your post and am wondering what the issue ended up being as my dashlight just cam on last night. It looks like it is pointing the brakes but the one item is said to be steering. I drove it around the block and seems ok. I haven't gotten to codes checked yet but will get that done. Any input is helpful.

 

Sorry...2008 with 125k mikes. 12 volt replaced maybe 2.5 or 3 yrs ago.
